There have been many writing contests and postings on SG, so it's difficult to tell for which one you are looking. You could try the last writing contest, or even doing a search of the Discussion section.

I've checked the writing contests by SquireZed already but so far no luck, I also searched a few things that came to mind like "short story", "writing" and the like but haven't been able to find it. That's why I'm looking for help, maybe someone else remembers the thread better that I do and can nudge me in the right direction. Thanks for the suggestions.

Searching the Net is a skill. "Writing" is too narrow a search term, unless you're sure the title had that word in it. If you can remember a specific word in the title, that's best. Otherwise, try parts of a word you think may be in the title for which you're searching.

I remember that there was once (probably a year or two ago) a thread with a writing competition sorta event where the rules were that you should write a short story, something like less than 30 words. I'm trying to find it but I haven't been able to, I would appreciate some help by a more search savvy SGer :)
