I had two questions. Could someone please help me with the answers.

First question) Is the game at this link, region locked: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ETWAR/empire-total-war

Second question) I think I read or someone told me about a site where you can check which games have region locks. I forgot where the site was. Could someone provide a link to the site, that allows you to check if a game is region locked?

first check steam @ this link >> "store.steampowered.com/?cc=ru" and check the game. If it says it is locked in RU, then it is locked.
P.S: BE sure to change back the link to "?cc=[your country code]"

second go to bronasium, click subs, type the name of the game in name

First clue is if there's a tag after a game("RU", "EU", "RU+CIS", "NZ"), then it's locked for those countries, to double check, open all subs for that game. And look for the "PurchaseRestrictedCountries" in extended info.

I went to the link you provided (store.steampowered.com/?cc=ru). I did a search for the game, and called it up in the store. I didn't see anything that said whether it was locked or unlocked. I'm a little confused, about what you will see, if a game is locked, at that link?

What is GFWL?

Games for Windows Live? I don't think Empire Total War, uses that?

EDIT: I just went to the link I provided in the first post on this thread. There is a picture of the game box. It says Games for Windows on the box, but it doesn't have the word Live anywhere on the front. So that usually means it is not a Game for Windows Live game.

Games for Windows =/= Games for Windows Live.

The first is just something to say that it was developed for Windows. The second is saying that it uses Microsoft's DRM. The image of the box on the GamersGate site has a banner for Games for Windows, not Games for Windows Live.

Doesn't mean that it isn't GFWL, but they usually have the GFWL banner if it uses GFWL rather than the GFW banner.

I just went to the bronasium link, and I get this: http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/1239

Territory code on it is 0. Also extended info is blank. Does that mean no region lock?

I've bought over 20 games from GamersGate, and none have been region locked. I highly doubt any games are, since you can gift them to friends, via their gifting service.

Also, Empire: Total War doesn't use GFWL.

If some game on GG is not available in your country it usually just doesn't appear in catalogue.
Also, SEGA's games don't have region blocks.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is region locked and is published by SEGA. Gearbox isn't a SEGA studio though, but SEGA is SEGA.
