The Ship is being given away for free.
Civilization V is a pre-order bonus for XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Amazon has a sale on Just Cause, Just Cause 2, Deus Ex: HR (and The Missing Link), Quantum Conundrum, Supreme Commander 2, Hitman Blood Money and The Last Remnant, all for $10.

If only Origin gave Steam keys, then we'd be spammed with $19.99 Origin games as well. ;)

Just cause and Blood money come from the amazon sale, Ship comes from here, and Civ V was given as a pre-order bonus for XCom.

Also The Ship doesn't give you contribution value as it was a bundle game.

I didn't knew that, I didn't even know there were games that didn't give you any contributor value at all. Then there's really no reason to spam the game, as so many have done?

Admin need to ban Square Enix games for a week.. so we can actually use the site with no lag.

Some people actually want to win these.

Yeah but its obviously being used to pump up peoples contribution levels unfairly. What costs them $1.50 per game they get on avg $15-20 contribution here = them getting into high level contribution giveaways much easier.

So what about the games you are getting for free? Such as CIV 5, torchlight, game cd-keys from magazines or the one added to your graphic card? And what about the steam sales?

Permalink

Obviously steam sales will be changed equally since the site I do believe uses Steam for current pricing.

What people don't understand is this, people out there are genuinely giving stuff away with good hard earned cash, just to give someone a treat... where is the treat when people are mass gifting particular titles that have turned the site into a lagging fat snail.. slowly crawling.

Then some people love to give out gifts to people who give good contributions... but yet you have Mr Joe Bloggs who has given away 20x $9.99 Square Enix Deals from Amazon, seperately comes to a lot of contribution... about $165 per full set giving away individually.. so then they get into nice big gifting sessions when they necessarily didn't earn their way there.

Its almost as bad as regifting.

I'm sorry you spent your hard-earned money on Tropico 3 and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD and Civilization V and bought Morrowind and Oblivion for cheap on Amazon. I'm sorry.

Lol dude you gave away a bundle and broke up the bonuses (Be Mine 5), 2 Elder Scrolls games that were 75% off recently, and the CIV5 that you got FREE with XCOM.

You spent a total of $5 + ~$10 + FREE and you're complaining about inflated contributor value?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The vast majority of purchased games given away on this site are purchased during sales so the whole contribution value system is pretty broken to begin with.

^This. The Amazon deals are no different than Steam sales. Very few people give away games they've paid full price for. In fact, doing so it pretty stupid considering there are always sales.

So people complain about a lot of "horrible" bundle games... then they complain when people actually give away good games...

There's just no pleasing some people.

I didn't see anyone complaining about all the giveaways for good games during the summer sale. (Well, except for a few threads about train simulator.)

Why do people make threads asking about the giveaway surge of a particular game? =/ Simply find a thread about the said game and all will be explained. Besides, this is not the first time that this happens. So whenever this happens I assume;

  1. That there is a Steam sale (or some sort of sale somewhere)
  2. A site is giving away keys (like the game developers of the game in question or IGN or something)

You will pretty much always end up being right, if you keep those two in mind.

There is nothing wrong with asking where these games are coming from. This single thread will answer the same question for hundreds of people.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would assume people would be curious if they were interested in obtaining the games themselves rather than waiting around hoping to be gifted a copy.

Just my theory though.

Mu6o instead of posting new threads, you could've taken the time to read the 100s of threads present on this forum already. A quick google search will also give you the answer.
