Hey guys,
today I finally got my new PC (wohoooo!).
I now have a 250GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. When I first booted I obviously selected the SSD to have Windows installed on - I could choose between both of them. If I enter the Bios while booting: The SSD aswell as the HDD are listed -> they should both work.
BUT - when I look where I have stuff installed (I am missing the english words, sorry :/ ) it only shows my SSD!
Like.. C:// -> SSD
D:// -> should be my HDD, right? But there is nothing else than the SSD!
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Since I obviously can't install all my games on a 250GB SSD ._.'

I hope you were able to understand my problem :/ Plz help x_x

maybe windows formatted the ssd drive before installing and not the hdd, meaning that the hdd was not formated yet and that's why it might not show up

hdd's don't always come ready to use, format and try again

I found it in the so called "Datenträgerverwaltung" (don't know the english word, sorry) and I guess you were right. I simply had to "install" it so to say.. Thanks a lot for those quick answers!

No, then.
You should define the main partition and format it to NTFS.

Have you formatted and partitioned the drive ? Format it into NTFS.

I just installed Win10 from a USB onto the SSD when first booting the system. No problems so far since it formatted the drive during the process.
SSD and HDD are both running on NTFS as Primary Partition - the SSD is just selected as starting partition aswell

Lets see:

You CANNOT use a flash drive to do this

Wrong

doesn't contain the proper tools for formatting drives

Wrong

Funnily enough, it's also slower to use than a DVD

Oh, also wrong. Well unless you use USB 1.0 or something.

I honestly giggled. Well, the other guy you quoted doesn't seem to possess proper knowledge, so misleading advice(s) is to be expected.

Yup, he very obviously doesn't. I am not someone who will usually write borderline rude (I guess?) comments like this one, but the way he wrote it like he knows what he is talking about just rubbed me the wrong way.

And in case someone comes across this thread wondering the same as OP:

  • A bootable USB is basically the same thing as a Windows DVD
  • A DVD will usually be slower to install from - it does depend on USB/SATA/DVD read speed you are using, I don't remember the exact speeds by memory anymore since it has been a while since I needed to know them for college, Google is your friend
  • There is exactly no difference how long it is gonna take to format depending if you use USB or DVD
  • This is most likely the actual answer - you can format the drive after you installed Windows

Source: I went to high school and college for this shit and I have installed multiple different OSes more times that I can count.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage/Disk Management

Select your drive from the pane on the right, right click and format it.
