"Harshness" should be a grey area, as it is. I think since the site is new that there are quite a few mistakes that are genuinely honest.
Now that I have your attention, could a mod please modify my giveaway win record to reflect one less win since this giveaway ended up being for a Guest Pass (which for TF2 means nothing) and not for an actual copy? Further, the gifter shouldn't have the (nonexistant) giveaway reflected on his account, nor do I think he deserves negative feedback from me.
As I said in my e-mail to inbox@steamgifts.com, it's not a big deal. I may eventually just leave positive feedback if the record can be changed. I just want it to be fair.

Fair? Life is not fair. When I see people who won 8 games in a month when hundreds of others go without a single win, don't talk about fairness.
PS. I know this is off topic, but I had to rant somewhere after seeing the guy who won Witcher 2 was on such a winning streak, oh I'm so jealous...

Seems like someone's taking everything a bit too serious :)

It's just stupid in every way. See I've developed a flawless system.
I light 24 candles to the great god of random number generation, slaughter a small pig and watch 15 episodes of Sex in the City. It's only failed me 32 times. Let's see your theory do that!

That made me laugh out loud.
I won on my second day, without commenting on the giveaway's thread. After winning I placed a thanking comment in it.
But it turned out to be a fake giveaway... So maybe... maybe if you don't comment they get a much bigger chance to turn out into fake giveaways?... Now that's a scary thought for you.

Hey, maybe I misunderstood you, but the B12G forum is brilliantly moderated by Tarn himself. It isn't really visible at just a glance, but I've seen some new posters be total jackasses in a post, and then a few hours later it's smoothly and surgically gone. The other amazing thing about the community is that no one responds to arsey posts. I was scrolling through a thread where some newish poster insulted another and used an image macro, and there were at least 6 replies more all on topic, not a single one commenting on the giant image macro insult.
B12G's well-moderated and appropriately harsh when it needs to be. You just don't see it.
Now here's where I realize I just went terribly off-topic, but post anyway.

As much as I hate to criticise the moderators / administrators on this site (you guys are awesome!), there's just a minor thing that niggles at me.
And that's the fact the moderators are nowhere near harsh enough. Fake giveaways seem to get you reprimanded instead of banned, the constant spam of "Frozenbyte Collection" doesn't really seem to have slowed down etc etc. This wouldn't really be an issue on a forum or pretty much any other site (where such lack of harshness in moderation isn't such a bad thing, see the B12G forums which are pretty much unmoderated), but here it has a major effect on other members of the site.
This site is entirely a priviledge and definitely not a right. It should be expressed as such. Even overstepping the rules (or going beyond common decency) should get you a short-term (without points build up) or permanent ban. Pleading ignorance shouldn't really get you leniency, either, especially not when the rules are put in when you enter the site.
Just wondering what everyone else thinks, really. Do you think that the moderators should be more harsh, less harsh or they're perfectly on the mark right now?
