Which of these games should they make?
I love Life is Strange :( best game I've played in 2015

Oh I know! I was gonna recommend you check out my thread where I asked for narrative-driven games recommendations where someone also recommended that but then I checked and saw it was you actually :p Still wanna try that one someday! Other games I would add that I've actually personally tried I guess are Firewatch, the other telltale games, Mass Effect, and I'm not sure how much these last few fit but I think Corpse Party, Bioshock: Infinite and Portals 1 & 2 all had great narratives too.

I played part of To The Moon a while ago. The characters felt childish and grating, and the puzzles to move to another level just detracted from the game. I enjoyed some of the humour and the story building looks okay far as I got, but I'm not sure if I'd continue. Completely forgot about it until this post.
Dragon Age Origins, I started that year ago (around the time it came out). Tutorial was very long and without a save option, and I lost progress at some point, and never came back to it.
Life Is Strange, started the first episode, looked mildly interesting. Took me a bit of time to get the UI on a touchpad. Starting the thing in class also didn't make it very appealing.
The Wolf Among Us, started it because I enjoyed what I've read of the Fables comics, but it has interaction where if you don't respond quickly that's counted as a selection, which put me off immediately, because I rarely get uninterrupted play time.
The short of it is, I feel like I'm at the 'get off my lawn' stage of my gaming life.

Ha, you're exactly like my older brother. I can't for the life of me get him to enjoy a story driven game. Oh well, I was gonna recommend you stick with To The Moon as the story really gets better the farther you go but I guess these are just not your kinda games. Although I think you're confusing Dragon Age: Origins with Inquisition, which is the third game in the Dragon Age series. Origins came out in 2009 and does allow you to save any time you want. It's pretty much just a traditional CRPG so don't know if you might like it more than the others, I just happened to find its story really good too.

I love story based games, for example I loved the Blackwell series of adventure games. I enjoyed Shadowrun Returns far as I got into it (played on Android and lost progress due to technical reasons; need to restart but haven't gotten to it for the past few years). Planescape: Torment is a favourite of mine from 'the old days', although I'm not sure how I'd feel today if I replayed it. My favourite genre is adventure games (although I've gravitated somewhat towards HOG's as I became more casual), with RPG's second.
That said, I have less patience than before, both for annoying characters and for technical/UI issues, and I feel less connection to teenage angst and related settings. That's what I liked about Blackwell, that it was a real adult game, discussing family from a parent's perspective, growing old, etc.
And yes, I'm talking about the original Dragon Age. IIRC it wasn't possible to save during the tutorial, the option wasn't available or was greyed out. It might have been fixed later, I don't know.

I assume only one pick per person? I went for Gone Home just so I can own it but I assure you I'd experience it myself, of course. I only ever watched playthroughs of it.
EDIT: Life is Gone, seems like it'd be a thriller of sorts?

You can enter as many as you want! And as long as you don't own the game(s) on steam it's all fine with me. If you do win it be sure to check out the dev commentary in the extras - adds a whole dimension to the game which you can't get from youtube videos. (Also may I ask whose playthroughs you watched? Sorta curious)
EDIT: Life is Gone, seems like it'd be a thriller of sorts?
A psychological thriller with mind-screw elements. Probably the protagonist has a Dark and Troubled Past or the like. Unless it's post-apocalyptic but that's a bit too literal.

I watched Life is Strange, Gone Home, and The Wolf Among Us.
I played to The Moon, Dragon Age: Origins, and have not played or watched A Bird Story.
It was a mix of what I was able to run on my computer and lack of a job at the time. Now that I currently have a job, I'm trying to look out for games I'd rather experience myself than watch.
Thanks for the games!
Although, I'm only going to enter Gone Home.

So what other games have made you tear up, or come close to it? I assume you've played The Walking Dead: Season One, since that's a another great game with an ending that can make it rain without a cloud in the sky. The same with the ending to Valiant Hearts: The Great War. I've also heard similar things about Undertale, and having won it recently, I'm looking forward to seeing if it can similarly pluck at the heartstrings...

Yes, I played the first two walking dead seasons and they were amazing although to be honest the second season's ending shook me a lot more. I guess because I knew that you play as Clementine in that one, I assumed pretty much from the start that Lee was gonna die at the end, so that lessened the shock a lot. Still sad :( Haven't played Valiant Hearts, I guess I should? And I wanna play undertale someday because of all I've heard about it(Was suffering hype aversion for a while but lately I've been hearing a lot of people that are very annoyed with it too so I think that balances it out). And as I said in the other comment Firewatch, Mass Effect, and Corpse Party probably have a place in here too.

I've made some things for you, dearest Steamgifter; You see them laid out before you in the moonlight. But before you look at the little handcrafted treasures I have for sale, let's talk about them for a bit, shall we? It won't take long. Here, sit down beside me. And do come a little closer, I won't hurt you. Except... You've seen the title of this thread, and I suspect you know that's not strictly true... is it?
Just a small assortment of games that've made me tear up, or come close to. Experiences worth sharing. Come one, come all, and take a pick. (Was gonna include more, but I'm literally out of money and too impatient to wait until getting more to make this thread)
You can't actually make a GA for this one, so the key is hidden behind a puzzle. First come first servedSolved! Though I guess you can still try it for fun and satisfaction if you want. But the key is gone*Thread idea shamelessly stolen from Stephen King's book of the (almost) same name.
