Thanks, I didn't know it's possible.
I just joined the translators group of my native language, though it is not being translated at the moment.
How much time does it take to Steam to approve it, and let us begin with the translates?
Thanks :).

You mean just joined and translated a application storefront text, right.
So, after you submit that, moderator of your language will read and decide weather to approve or reject it. So it depend on how active is your moderators.
Then an Admin who work at Valve will periodically export approved strings and put it on Steam/games/etc. This is when all the translation were credited and applicants will earn their entries.
So you'll have to wait until your mod approve and Admin bring your translation up.

Nope.
I checked your link, and it says my native language(Hebrew) is not there. After digging a bit, I got to a forum thread saying Hebrew is one of the "pending languages"(not sure the exact phrase used). I joined the steam group of Hebrew translators, to support it, and I hope it would be approved soon.
Do you know how much time does it take? How much people are needed in the group in order to approve it?
Thanks.

Then, it's a different story. The one I was talking about is applying to STS when the language is already exist. I haven't seen a new language for a long time so I really can't say. It also depend on how many people are in your group and if Valve want it.
Don't for get to check Valve Time if they reply.

I gave it a thought more than once, but I speak more than 3 languages and I'm having enough troubles finding work on my own to start doing it for free for people who could afford paying a whole squad of translators for each and every language of the world.

True true. Even my admin in translation only is only in second year of uni and last year in high school. They both have amazing understanding about coding for translation tools and technical. Point is, students have free time. And people with work, looking for work mostly doing this translation stuffs for fun and connections in steam community.

Admin finalized a translation, and can be assigned by Valve staffs. Valve staff can be too, be an admin. But I doubt it only happens to my language since we are just a small market and there happens to be 1 or 2 Valve staffs coming from my country.
The head Localization at translation is Torsten. You can said that he is head of all admins.
The moderators can approve a suggested translation (but not on his/her own translation) for admin finalization.

Heh I've seen a lot of horrible, Google Translated translations in my day via Steam, but I've always seen some top notch work. For people who truly are fluent in two or more languages and take the time to translate the description of a certain game they like or just in general, I think they deserved to get paid in SteamBucks (not just saying this as a translator =p).

As a volunteer translator for STS (aka Steam Translator S?), I never expect anything comes out from this work (well, except for a special translator badge for 6 months placed in top translator). Suddenly Valve decides to award those hard work with steam wallet code.
As this has been known and published over STS group, I decided to spread the words about this sudden award, hopefully attracting (or luring) new potential people come in and suffer together translating everything. There has been tons of new tokens, works and several bullshit stuff coming repeatedly thanks to (actually, it's fucked up with the spam of new tokens translating request) Dota 2, the Steam OS, Steam Machine, Steam Controller etc...
Once again, hopefully that there will be new applicants for STS. (I'm sure that the head admin of each language will suffer even more with tons of new applicants)
*Expect give away soon
