So I found myself in a bit of an odd predicament. A couple of months ago, I won a giveaway for a VN-style game that I at the time wanted to try. I never installed it due to playing other titles I was already in the midst of. Long story short, I ended up watching a Let's Play of it after a couple of months had passed, wasn't really impressed, and decided I wasn't going to play it after all as my interest had waned by that point. In the end, I removed the game from my library entirely.

In retrospect, that may not have been the best decision. I noticed a few days ago that I can no longer enter SGTools-created giveaways because "I have not activated all won games for my account". In addition to that, how else could I be penalized for this? Increased chance of rerolls on future wins or even a suspension? I know the simple answer would be to just buy a fresh copy and hide it from my library, but I'm gonna be short on funds for a while nor do I really want to buy it back at all.

Thanks in advance for any info.

You don't need to rebuy, just repeat the removal process and you can re-add it.

Huh. I didn't even know that was an option. Got it back now; thanks.

Did you let the game remove by steam-support or did you do it yourself with that new function? In the latter case you can just restore the game to your library.

Steamgifts.com only punishes you once for the same infraction, so you don`t have to worry about multiple re-rolls. In your case you will probably be suspended for a few days. If you want to use SGTools giveaways that use a "no-unactivated wins"-rule in the future, you will have to buy a new copy.

Good thing restoration is an option; that saves a lot of trouble. And thanks for the information.

Theoretically you could contact the creator of the GA and ask him to delete the GA. If you bought them a game which is worth the same price or more, they could agree. It could cost you less money than to buy the game you deleted because the new game could be in a bundle or on sale. It also depends if the game was bundled or not...

I think it was a key from HB. I've got it figured out, though, so nothing to worry about now.

You can nearly always return removed games back to your library.

Help > Steam Support > [Search for the game name] should let you find it and re-add it, unless you had Steam Support manually remove it.

But yeah, if it's a game you intentionally don't want in library, all you need to do is convince the GA creator to delete the giveaway. If they agree [usually by you providing them a higher value game in exchange], you're in the clear.
