A lot of people won't want to trade with Eastern Europeans because there are too many bad ones out there. Not saying all are bad though.

A lot of people don't know geography, because Poland is not an eastern country.

Just you don´t know geography ;).. Poland is in Eastern Europe.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Europe

Wikipedia is not a good source. Poland is in central Europe. Only the countries bordering Russia and perhaps Bulgaria and Romania fall under the "eastern Europe" category.

looking at almost any page wih eastern OR central Europe lists Poland lol. Tbh I don't consider a random internet guy to be a better source than wikipedia.

So... How about looking at an actual map of Europe and thinking for yourself? :)

My atlas considers Poland to be a part of eastern Europe.

Everything that was behind the Berlin Wall is considdered east. Besides, since there's east and west, there is simply no room for central.

Is Berlin now considered to be in Eastern or Western Europe? I'm so confused.

Which is obviously geographically wrong. Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary are Central Europe. Belarus, Ukraine etc. are Eastern Europe.

Based on what? :) Media-spread stereotypes and prejudices ? :) I have to tell you that people around the world are all the same. There are good and bad people in every country/region etc. People should really stop spreading stereotypes :)

Did he have a thread or anything where he was requesting a trade, or did you just add him out of the blue?
And your name might make somebody think twice before trading with you.

He was on my friend's list for a while, and he could've been polite and said "No thanks I'm not selling my cards" but instead he unadded me.
And my name got me in trouble with steamrep with some old alt account, I got marked maybe a day after I changed my name to Professor Scam.

The conversation took all of two minutes. You added him, sent a trade request while he was busy gaming, he obviously wasn't too interested and declined (probably because he was playing a game) and you think he's being rude?

People who add me and start spamming or sending trade requests don't last very long on my list either! Quite frankly, you were extremely impatient and the one being rude.

Permalink

How was I rude? I just asked if he was selling some of his cards, because I needed them. I didnt add him just for his cards I added him a while back because I... I don't know. He is being rude because he asked where I was from and when I replied Poland, he just said "okey" and unadded me.

Maybe he couldn't remember why you're on his friends list and being from Poland confirmed that you're not one of his irl friends. I agree with Peroxide. You were bothering him during a game, and being fairly impatient.

Like I tell everyone, don't send me a trade request until we have an agreement worked out.

Permalink

I traded him when he said "okey" because I thought the agreement was reached.

Also I initiated the conversation when he started GMod, so there was no way he was already in a game at the time I said "hey"

That's not an agreement. I mean specifics. If someone adds me for a trade I want to know what they want and what they are offering.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There is clearly a part where you were 'rude'. "I need some of your gmod cards", you don't need those cards, you would like those cards.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I needed those cards to finish a set so I can craft a badge, as in without those cards I will not be able to craft the badge, so I need them to finish the badge. I also said that because it is explaining why I messaged him in the first place.

  1. To add someone as a friend who you don't know or don't have business which you already fixed before - that is rude.
  2. To initiate a trade before you agreed you will trade - that is rude too.

Hell, I would do almost the same. Except I wouldn't even accept the friend request.

He probably plays World of Tanks. There is a consensus there that if a player is from Poland then he's a bad player. Doesnt mean that you shouldnt trade with them but I'm guessing that he was just not interested. Although if a person wanted to trade with me using such a nickname I would decline without saying a word. Professor Scam? Really? :)

  1. It appears you added him to trade without asking first. That's very rude.
  2. Your username is "hey, please remove me."

1 + 2 = this has nothing to do with his random question about where you're from.

I agree. I thought "Professor Scammer" was the problem and I still think "Professor Scammer" is the problem.

If some random guy (especially named "Professor Scam") adds me telling me he needs some of my items and then "Invites to Trade" before we even work out a price/deal I would remove them as well.

I don't think your country has anything to do with it; you just didn't approach the trade very tactfully and to many it would seem you were the rude one.
