No calling out here. Close this thread, report him on steamrep.com, give him negative feedback on steamtrades (make sure it's actually his profile), and be more careful in the future.

This is the real kpaxxx. You got scammed by someone stealing his identity. You should remove the neg rep you gave him on steamtrades.

He has many steamIds because he impersonates people. You were obviously too naive to check that the steamtrades user corresponded to the correct steam profile. For reference, next time someone even provides a steamtrades profile in chat, (Highly suspicous to start with), you should always click "View steam profile" from there, and make sure that it is the same guy. Don't just look at the name and avatar, the biggest indicator should be game amount. If they don't match, he's a scammer. Another thing is, never trade with them if they have a private profile, unless under certain circumstances, such as them going first, or it being conducted through steam trade window.

Nothing highly suspicious about giving a rep link (SteamTrades or otherwise) in chat. Sometimes for one reason or another I just add people without posting in their thread on whatever site (SteamTrades, Source Op, TF2OP, etc). If they ask to see rep then I provide a link.

However, as you pointed out, a person should always double check that the rep link being provided is indeed for the person you are speaking with. Just follow the link in the rep profile to the user's steam profile and see if that matches the steam profile of the person you're chatting with.

Fair enough to you then, but I always consider it suspicious when it happens to me, and if they aint posted in the thread, I would usually ask first. I guess it's like at a pub TBH, You always doublecheck the ones who are overeager with their ID.

When someone sends you their rep links, always be suspicious. Tell them you'll find them yourself, and if they're up to no good, either they'll get bitchy or just leave on their own. Or just stick to a general rule of thumb and ignore invites from anyone with a private profile, like I do now.

close the thread and change names as the information you are putting out is misleading, kpaxxx didn't do it, a scammer did

always use http://steamrep.com/faq.php to check up on people before trading , also look at their game library , if they have just a few cheap games (less than 30 is pretty fishy) or just free ones , make them give you their key first or just back away from the trade.

Always run the unique Steam ID number through Steamrep before trading.

Calling out here simply smears mud [with no justification] on people who are entirely innocent in this.

Don't be too harsh on the guy. He's probably busy talking to the latest "Steam Admin" to add him as a friend, promising to get these two miscreants suspended as soon as the OP confirms his Steam password and bank account details...
