It's on cartoon network, but don't be immediately turned off. Hiding behind it's childish exterior, in reality it's really just a show about a half-alien child teaching lesbian space rocks how to have healthy interpersonal relationships... you know, like you do.

Have you seen Doctor Who? Quite different from other sci-fi shows and pretty unique with its style. The first 3-4 episodes may seems a bit "slow" but later it beomes great.

Utopia - great, but sadly very underrated title. And it's short, so it won't take much of your time. Just pleeeeeease give it a try ^^ Music, visuals, story - everything on a top level.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Newsroom - both are brilliant results of Aaron Sorkin's writing.
Alice - not sure if it could classify even as mini-series (just two episodes), but it's great. And IMHO - best Alice and Hatter team (at least among the ones I've seen).

Da Vinci's Demons? If you happened to love Assassin's Creed 2's setting, this is the exact same - renaissance Florence, Medici family, trouble with pope, great inventions, awesome characters... it's worth checking out :)

Kyle XY - One of my favorite shows even though I'm not part of the target audience.

The Musketeers - Really well made show about, well musketeers :)
My Love From Another Star - Apparently I like kiddie stuff...
Sherlock - Absolutely amazing production.
The West Wing - Well written and witty, at least for someone like me that's not well educated in american politics

Not the most recent but Breaking Bad is beyond amazing, I highly recommend it.
As for recent stuff.
Orange is the new black - interesting but a bit slow paced and some of the same things keeps happening, but overall its OK
Better Call Saul - amazing prequel to Breaking Bad, a bit confusing at times but definitely worth a watch if you loved breaking bad

Master of sex is so great ! I discover it in the middle of the 2nd season, but I saw every episode in raw. Everything is so well written & film, I relly liked it :)

If you haven't watched Star Trek:The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, or the Original Series do it, as a favor to yourself. Thank me later.

I genuinely don't think most tv past 2010 is anything near as good as the previous couple of decades.The few exceptions were noted, or else I didn't include obvious choices.
I didn't include Farscape because I don't think it's all that good a show, upon a second viewing.First two seasons are excellent.
I wouldn't really put Louie in the same category as those other shows, except Seinfeld because both shows pushed the envelope of the 30-minute sitcom format. CYE is a good show too, however.

I just finished watching all 4 seasons of House Of Lies. Season 5 will begin next year.
