I'd like to see more really well done old school console JRPG/RPG/TRPGs hitting steam. But I want to see good ports that devs put a lot of love and care into.
Dragon Warrior, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, Persona, Xenogears, XenoSaga, Lunar, Shadow Hearts, Parasite Eve, Grandia, Legend of Legaia, Wild Arms, Breath of Fire, Romancing Saga etc.

+1 for Tactics Ogre
That was my favorite series growing up outside of FF. Tactics Ogre 64 was really good!

+1 for good ports. Steam has a decent number of old SquaresoftEnix games but they are almost all messed up in some way.
I'm really hoping GungHo doesn't mess up the Grandia port since I've wanted to play the Saturn-only Digital Museum expansion for ages (I've heard they might be adding normal maps, bloom, and depth of field...basically doing everything they could to destroy the original aesthetic).

SE actually turned around Chrono Trigger. It had some issues and they put forth some effort and fixed it. I wish they would do that with some of the other ports.

I miss a lot of games from consoles like Armored Core, Fatal Inertia, Full Auto, Twisted Metal, Rumble Roses, Castlevania (PS1 & PS2), Metroid Prime, Zelda, Haunting Grounds, Fable II (The best)... too bad Forza is not on Steam, it's a great racing game.
Also return games like Dead Space (I know it's impossible) and Independence War (I'd love to see a sequel)

Well, EA sh!ts on everything. The first Mass Effect is what Bioware was planning, an open-world space RPG, but EA came with their touch of King Shitas and that's what happened. The end of the trilogy was a disaster. Dead Space was also affected, the fist one is my favorite. I also bought the DS3 LE, it was not bad since I enjoyed the game customizing weapons. Too bad Dante's Inferno is also from EA, they don't care about past game unless they make money for it.
FromSoftware (Armored Core) also have FPRPG that predates Morrowind, like Eternal Ring. A underrated amazing game (launched in 2000).

More 3D car combat games with retro 3D graphics (Twisted Metal 1-4, Rogue Trip, Vigilante 8, etc.)
And more 3D JRPGs with pixel art characters (Grandia 1, Breath of Fire 3-4, Xenogears, etc.). "Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor" is a good recent example in terms of aesthetics (minus the terrible UI) but isn't a jrpg.

strong story-based action games. theres just not enough of them. i dont care if theyre open world, i dont care if theyre linear. i dont care if theyre shooter based or if they're melee combat based, i just want games with fun combat mechanics and deep, rich, emotionally rewarding narratives.
if i had to choose a genre id like to see more of these games... horror. not so much survival horror, just surreal dark evocatively bleak settings... preferably in a sci-fi setting, but anything could be interesting really... oooh.. a viking/medieval horror game perhaps? merging a distant real-world setting, with the supernatural? hellblade is a great example, but id like to see something less metaphorical and more explicitly real world and straight forward in its setting, that could be phenomenal!
but really, ill take anything with a really strong and involved story.

I want to see more open world games that don't rely on combat to make quests/gathering difficult. I don't like bosses or enemies as a challenge and I'd rather be able to explore and build. I'm real tired of every open world game revolving around me avoiding hostiles.
We also need a good zoo game on Steam. There is a mixed review zoo tycoon and a few knockoff and inferior versions but none are outstanding. I want a really well made zoo tycoon 2-type games with achievements.

I agree on steampunk style. There is a definite shortage of that. Open world games that donāt suck (and arenāt part of a franchise) are in great shortage too. Iām also into story rich/non combat titles. A dedicated Lego Spider-Man game is something I would pay for in an instant too.

Some kind of crazy genre hybrid, like Guardian Legend, which combined a Vertically-Scrolling Shooter with an overhead Action-Adventure with extremely mild RPG elements. I'd love something like the first Darksiders, but bigger, and with a Final Fantasy 5 class system, where you learn new skills permanently as you battle as a lancer, bard, or whatever.

shameless Fantasy romance RPGs
...you mean visual novel dating simulators? āŗ
If you mean combat with stat-based progression (which is what "RPG" has come to mean over the years), how would that work in a game without much focus on combat like that?

i miss Warlords (amiga500) yes i know there is a lot similar but is rubbish if compared to it in quality , i miss also in dynamic adventures the attack used in Severance blade Of Darkness (all 8 direction attack choosed by player + cut) the only game that i see try to copy it is for honor but i not like for honor because of it native multiplayer-centric genre i want a single player adventure same as severance with storytelling single player campaign + the 8 direction attack, i miss the stealth feel on TenchuZ (yes i know there is mgs, hitman and aragami etc. but they are not same feel) and also i miss games space like elite or elite dangerous, and yes i know there is a lot of space game on steam but all is bad quality the only decent is astroneer, elite dangerous, elite and the bad copy of elite (also named no man's sky that btw miss a real galaxy map).
i miss also games ad monkey islands expecially with pixel graphics, i see a lot in steam of them but they is like a fraud, have beautiful trailers pixel but then when you play it is is very short only 10-30 min finish and there is not much to do,they look + like scam than like a videogame, they miss on quality of gameplay, storytelling and also they are short so yes i miss this too,but i must to say also i'm happy that i see "Thimbleweed Park" is on the stores i wish soon i can buy it.

I dont know if we lack those, but I love story rich games that are visually stunning, too.
Im not much for pixel games and side scrollers. I prefer first or third person games..
Now and then several come around, but at times I wish more of those would exist

Thank you, Detention has somehow slipped under my radar, and that's just wrong.
Edit: aha, got it. Must be "the rampaging monsters", I prefer pure adventure games. Still, this one looks like it's worth a try anyway.

There are not nearly enough Steampunk games or shameless Fantasy romance RPGs (cough) Dragon Age (cough) in this world. Or games like The Cat Lady that are dark and moody and deal with things like mental illness in an engaging and semi-supernatural way.
