it doesn't matter, you can find out anyone's username by searching their aliases on their steam profile. earliest alias = username.

Err, what? Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, that's wrong. I haven't changed my profile name since I first set it (profile says "no known aliases" when I click the arrow), and my profile name and account name are definitely not the same.
