Meh, well yes and no, it's a good game I guess but I personally quit playing it quit early on. The Close Quarters dlc is for free if you just redeem the code BF3E3 so you could maybe get the standard edition and get that piece of dlc for free.

Not really, to be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much as BF:BC2. And I didn't enjoy BF:BC2 as much as I enjoyed Battlefield 2. And I didn't enjoy Battlefield 2 as much as I enjoyed Battlefield 1942. But you can't get him 1942, it's free now. So you should gift him Battlefield 2 on steam.
