Piracy vs Spammers doesn't really relate. Piracy is illegal and spamming is just not good internet etiquette, still I can see the point you're trying to make here. Some threads definitely look like spam, but notice the third thread can be considered a puzzle of some sort that many people on this site are so fond of. If you think about it, it's a puzzle because it's disguised in the form of spam, but yes you can still think of it as spam.
I don't see why you consider the second one spam, but the first one definitely had no meaning to be made at all. Simply ignore threads that you don't see interesting/to your taste. There's not much more you can do.

Post counts are worthless, since there is no clear division between a forum post and a "ty" in a giveaway, therefore any sort of community interaction is....just an illusion, if you were to look at it in terms of post count.
Out of the three forum threads you mentioned, i considered only one of them as spam. Why? Because that's the only one where there's absolutely nothing productive/useful in the content of the thread. The one made by Igotelbows screams spam all over, but pay attention for a second and you'll see he posts at least a giveaway for every thread he creates. Pointless? You tell me. As for the other thread, apparently you haven't read enough of it, that thread was clearly destined to bring a nice point of discussion to the forum, i don't see why it would be considered spam.
Why complain about post count? It's always been like that, i've seen some other sites where you could win points when commenting, but then again it was easily exploitable. In the end post counts, as well as signatures and a lot of other stuff just don't matter, i fail to understand why you are bothered so much about this specific subject.
I wouldn't miss post count, i never really cared about it, but i'm not pulling my hair about it either. Spammers are dealt with quickly here.

Thats why I really dont even post "Thank you" on a giveaway.
I know that when I make giveaways I ignore every single post anybody makes (Unless its not a thank you) but I really couldent care less about what people post. I just want people to have fun with my game :P
The only "Thank you" that I deem worthy is the Thank you that the winner gives me, I dont need spammed thanks.

I did just read a thread where some people said they appreciated the "thank you" post. or at least were annoyed if the person who won did not do one.
Personally, all those TYs annoy me and are the reason I read none of the comments on my GAs, but apparently some people like them.

How does having a huge post count benefit anybody? Does it really matter that much?

It makes your epeen bigger, and everyone wants to have one as big as possible :3

Sometimes, after despondently zipping up my fly, I'll boot up my PC, log onto Steamgifts and console myself that at least I have a larger than average post count.

I've participated in a number of these threads / discussions with spam in their titles like this, this, and this, and was / am pretty sick and tired of the way things are going, but spamming is just wrong and really prompted me to post this up, see what reactions people post. Go ahead, try defending such a ridiculously dishonest, conniving attitude.
The site doesn't like spamming and takes a stand against them, a lot in the community are very vocal against piracy etc, and act like moral white-knights, but this behavior's somehow ok? Tell me again why the post feature was implemented in the site again? That's right; as a simple way to record and reward hubris - i.e. to give people a tool to brag about, after the fact. Not as an incentive to encourage "ty" spam in giveaways. And no, not every post has to be for 100% on topic reasons. There's a wide range of posts you can make that are not considered spam in terms of quality. But regardless of intended motivation in making posts, you can be sure this kind of post has giveaways hidden inside, and is purely an attempt to shamelessly exploit and trick the post count system, nothing more.
Period.
I'm not going to call anyone out here publicly, but I keep seeing threads with posts of people with 1k+, sometimes even 2k+ posts on their profile, but when looking through their posts, all they've done is spam ty in giveaways. One such profile I saw had more than 17k posts, but looking through their list of posts, a rough estimate of posts that don't say "ty" is maybe 0, being very generous in my estimate.
So, firstly, post count is bull (and yes I know almost every post on giveaways is ty spam but there's still a HUGE disparity between saying ty, and saying something else that the giveaway creator would appreciate), as well as the far more important issue - they're clearly, undeniably selfishly, strategically trying to boost their post count as easily as possible. Why is this kind of behavior allowed? Also, in case I wasn't obvious enough, there are giveaways here.
