Already looks really cool :D Kind of has a Mad Max feel to it (despite the original Mad Max not having a cop cap).
As far as I read their announcement we get to keep the items and I assume can also showcase our Saliens on our profiles (if we want to) but I wonder if we still get to change appearances and equip new stuff while it's in cryostasis.

Yeah, I'm kinda waiting out what they mean with all that before spending money.
Also interesting they added gems to get rid of the extreme amount of unsellable items, and now they add ungemmable items doing the same thing :/

To be honest I was surprised they clog up the Steam client with another type of item just for this sale but apparently they plan to reuse the Saliens in the future. If it makes you feel any better I really like the look of your Salien ;) I interpreted the arms and feet you used as more gooey tentacles but with the suit and the colour it looks a bit like smoke like smoke, like a jinn coming out of a bottle.
I guess if you remember to save screenshots of your finished pages back then you could showcase them in an artwork showcase (I vaguely remember there even was a script to backup them) but that's obviously a poor workaround since very few people backupped their albums.

I hope that someday Steam will make a minigame which involves more thinking and much less clicking. Hats can stay.

Yeah, Hatoful Boyfriend would definitely have potential for some cute items. I was actually surprised about some of the participants. Not so much about the Indie games, more about some of the bigger franchises like Total War or maybe Arma 3.

I also think the surprise about the lack of threads was more directed at the usual "What did you buy" and "What should I buy" / recommendation threads but I thought it would still make a nice topic for a thread :) And specially considering how funny (and mostly dirty) some of your creations with the sticker album last year were I wanted to see with what kind of Saliens you guys would come up with.

I don't care for the Saliens, not a fan of clickers and I haven't bothered actually playing it - I've just idled the three daily cards and then left. Design-wise the saliens just aren't appealing to me either. I'll be surprised if they actually stick around after the sale is over since Valve originally said that the sticker showcase would stay in your profile but then that was taken away.

In the long term it feels like kind of a pointless addition but I guess it would be hard to take them away now since they made them marketable and put no expiry date on them. I could be wrong but if I remember correctly the FAQ last year kind of implied we'd get too keep our sticker albums for a while but not forever.

Most of them. There are two sets with two items each (Spring cleaning Biohazard Suit & Cardboard armor) , which everybody got from that spring cleaning box, that are not tradable / marketable. The remaining (random) contents of the box and the items you get from leveling up in the game should be marketable.

So I was just having a look at the recently added item category Sale items, thinking I had amassed soo many hats and outfits I must have almost all of them but I couldn't have been more wrong. 39 pages!!! Apparently when there's an opportunity to design hats there's no holding Valve back 😄 And from the looks of it contrary to last years sticker album the Saliens and the items to dress them up are bound to stay considering the sale items don't have an expiry date, can be traded and furthermore the FAQ mentions something about your Salien going into cryostasis after the sale is over and the Duldrumz are defeated.
I'm not the the biggest fan of clicker games but I have to admit I found the dress-up doll section of the event kind of cute (although the Alien creator itself lacks variety) and since there has been concern about the lack of Summer Sale related threads I present to you the wrath of the seven celestial seas, the notorious Tentaclebeard.
