Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. It's a show for children.

No, it isn't.
It has the same thing going for it that WoW does. It has nothing to do with comparative quality with other things of the same genre. It has to do with the fact that people know other people are watching it, and that even if it isn't the best thing, there is companionship in being able to talk about it with others.
If challenged to come up with reasons they enjoy it, most cannot do so. Instead they just know that so long as they enjoy watching, their time spent watching is justified. Similar to people who play WoW. The addictive aspect is not the media at hand, but general acceptance of it and community interactions based upon it.

I tried watching that show and it was the most boring thing. I don't even mind bronies, but that show... man. Put me right to sleep. And I watched several episodes. Every single one was boring.
If you're going to watch a kids' cartoon, at least watch Adventure Time and truly experience some good programming.

Bronies are just men that want to be little girls and find that outlet in a tv show. There's nothing more to it than that.

I don't know. I still think it started as some kind of ironic joke and it spiraled out of control when a horde of internet manchildren latched on to it.
That said, as long as I don't have to deal with that shit myself I really don't care what people watch on TV, so whatever.

Some people genuinely like it, other people are just "riding the wave".

I think there's an big difference between "people who like My Little Pony" and "bronies". I'm neither, but I could imagine why people in the first category might dislike those in the second.

Not sure, you don't have to get insanely into MLP, but you can acknowledge it is a well thought out show. The characters are fascinating to watch, it does remind me that there are good shows still on American television. I'd still watch anime > MLP any day however, but I'm a weak brony :X.

I'll just leave this here: Explaining the Brony Phenomenon
