I was around 50kg when i was 18 (i even got teased at school for being so skinny), gained 25kg when i messed with weights at home (most was 40 kg, so not alot compared to more fanatic lifters).
Still am around 75kg, but at 193cm i always feel skinny, I even had a small moment i tried to just stuff myself like whipped cream and banana's to gain a bit more, but that didn't work. But i guess that's how i am build and kinda learned to live with it.
I stopped with weights but jog now, but instead of a normal path i try to take grass and hills to feel it a bit more.
In short, after a few weeks of lifting you will gonna start gaining weight.

You sound a lot like me. I'm 177 cm, and I used to weigh 52 kg at this length. Eating never made me gain any serious weight, and not working out either (I did martial arts for quite some time, I got stronger, more "fit", but didn't really gain weight or get "bigger").
This year I started working out at a gym, as well as having a better diet. Working out with heavier weights (compared to exercises where I only used my body weight), as well as making sure I get enough nutrition to gain something from the workout has really made some changes.
Now I'm actually starting to gain weight, by increasing my muscle mass. I'm still quite thin, but I look really different now (in a better way, more healthier), and I have put on 2 kg. That's just from a few months. I'll continue working out and eating well, it will be really interesting to see where I'll get to.
I think it's great if you follow the meal plan and workout plan someone has made for you. I also felt really weak the first few times, but after a few weeks, I didn't feel as sore after an hour at the gym, but I didn't stop gaining strength, just got used to it.

Yeah, at 50 kg I can really see that.
I think going to the gym and sticking to the meal plan can really do you good. It took me 15 years to get from 52 to 55 kg, and now in just a few months I've gone from 55 to 57, and it really is starting to show that I work out. I'm even getting muscles in places where I wasn't aware I could get muscles (or, of course I always had them, I mean - now they're visible). Like the muscles just "inside" from the hip bone. Now they reach further out than the hip bone, which feels a bit strange, but it's all good.
My tip to you: Remember to take a "before"-picture. I didn't, but it would have been so fun to be able to compare it to how I'm looking now, to show how much difference it's possible to do in just a few months.

Lift as heavy weights as you possibly can while maintaining proper form and being safe.
Then, eat healthy foods until you feel like you are going to puke. Focus on high protein and carbs (if you are trying to put on muscle).
Also, drink a bunch of water! I am 6'6" and weigh 245 lb, I drink a gallon to a gallon and a half of water a day.

Yes, in order to stay fit. I want huge muscles, but my priority is to stay fit though. xD And once you get into the habit of going to the gym, it's like you can't live without it. You have to eat more along with the workout. You can't work out without energy. ;P

I would recommend looking up AthleanX and watching all the advice Jeff gives on his youtube channel. Maybe even buy one of his programs.

Eat more, thats all the truth, I'm slim since always (currently 23y/o) I'm de-slimming right now, was 51kg then(around 3 months ago), now I'm around 58 and going up, just eating 2400-2500 cal per day and doing some basic calisthenics after waking up was enough to get weight(in my case), tho if you want serious gains ok, keep with your gym but food is #1 priority (and good sleep second). First find your Metabolic basal rate, and then just eat more than that. Around 7500 accumulated calories is around 1Kg in fat(which you turn into tissue working out), so you know now some numbers and can calculate gains per month. Good luck!.
PD: I used to think I ate a lot, but was not true, make your numbers and add up all the food you eat through the day and compare that with your requirements.

Yes, I was thick guy as long as I can remember. But in 2013 I changed my life by eating other things and watch out what calories I needed and what I consumed.
So I lost about 40 kilograms by starting muscle training and eat much better things. I also started cardio (swimming, jogging, bicycle) Today I added another 5 kilograms to my body, but at least less fat than muscles. I personally train at least 3 days a week for 60-90 minutes.
For your goal I'd say optimum is to add muscles. There is no need to train with maximal weight, but less weight and more repeats (20-25) each set may be good for you, if your lung or overall condition is not good enough for hard lifting. Why not try swim again? Sorry, as I read this, I have to hints at all, but you also may try to eat as much protein as possible while not forgetting fat and carbs ...
Good luck!

My gf and our 5 kids all go to the gym, sort of like a family time thing. I dont go, with my bad health all I could do is watch the pretty young girls go by...
To which Id thoroughly enjoy but it'd get me in loads of trouble hahahaha
Im glad you are going and I wish you the best :)

personally i never had weight issues, going to the gym might help you. i used to go myself 4-7 times a week for like 6 years. but to me it was bs, you gain nothing but some cheap muscles with one-dimensional power. even if you train so you get really ripped, i didnt felt like i was super fit. plus you always see if someone has those gym muscles. i then started to go rock climbing, swimming, and doing weight training only with my body weight - now im about to turn 30 and i feel and look like a beast lol. most important is a healthy nutrition though.
good luck to you mate & keep working, hope you will soon feel more comfortable with your body again.

Na, I go for a walk every day and do some exercise at home. I used to swim a lot but now it's expensive, WAY too expensive, same with gym.
170 cm and 51 kg, skinny(due to depression) but somehow healthy

Went to gym like crazy.
Changed my routines pretty often to surprise muscles.
Went hard on one body part for a week or two, then gave it a rest for that muscle group and changed it up for something else.
Also ate properly.. I am 175 cm and weigh around 80 kg.
And then went to uni :/ There was no normal gym around. Just some expensive and without equipment gyms. Tried to keep fit with running and doing weight excercises.. But studying takes a toll on your free time.. Some gaming time now and then, social life and belly keeps on growing..
Preparing food also is a pain in the ass when living in dorms, so meals also got worse.
Personally I want to really get back to gym. Actually thanks for reminding me about this. Next come ssemester, Ill look for gym again and will try to hit it like old times.
I would suggest for you, to check out bodybuilding <dot> com. The site has a lot of great trainers who have created programs for any type of body for any type of target. Be that muscle gaining, weight losing or complete transformation..
When I started out, I was skinny as hell. Went with Kris Gethin 12 week transofmration program. Really good. Starts out easier, and going into the program it gets more brutal and brutal. That dude is really and insipration. Look him up ;)

Today I started going to gym. I've been always slim all my life no matter how much I eat but this didn't bother me most of the time. I was happy with my body. I used to swim every summer non-stop for three months whole day, play volleyball, run, ride a bike until I got into college in another city. I stopped doing most of these since, yet sadly I ended up being more thin. Couple years ago I had a surgery for one of my lungs, some family issues, then graduation and unemployment, along with a 'little' depression... all affected my overall health badly. Last time I checked (after surgery) I was 55 kg, today I learned that I reached a new low, just 50 kg, phew!
And my God I feel so weak, today I was in gym (for the first time) for just 90 minutes and I was tired as hell. I wasn't able to lift my arm above my head even after couple hours. I only worked with the lightest weights. The instructor gave me a meal plan for gaining weight. I don't know whether it will actually help but I really want, seriously I need to gain at least 15 kg. I will start riding bike again on the days that I am not in the gym and eat more!
Have you ever been in a similar situation, had problems with your weight etc., maybe you can share some tips. Enjoy one little present as well while thinking.
