I was shocked when I heard this, and I actually OWN an Xbox One! I've been a long time fan of the series, but I think it's pretty disrespectful to pull a move like this. There has never been an Tomb Raider game NOT on the Playstation system until now.

Going online to their facebook page, it's on fire with thousands of people raging hard over it, and I don't blame them one bit. I know if I only had a gaming PC or a PS4 and heard this news, I would be up in arms over this call. The thing that I don't get, the Tomb Raider reboot sold so much better on Sony's console and the PC over the Xbox consoles, then they pull this. After Crystal/SquareEnix complained they didn't make enough money off the Tomb Raider reboot, they turn around and announce the sequel will be exclusively on the Xbox One, just don't get it.

My only thoughts, Microsoft tossed a buttload of cash their way and is calling it, "Exclusive" but it'll turn out just to be a timed exclusive.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" today exclusive to Xbox One, tomorrow coming to PC, so much "exclusiveness".

It will happen, I have a 360 and during the years xbox lost so many exclusives, soooo many and the one is on the same boat, look at ryse son of rome, it's going to be released on pc. So meh, no need to rage.

Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

That bit right there pretty much says that M$ threw a lot of money there way to make it xbone exclusive. Like I'd probably buy an xbone anyway, but I still think its a massive screw you to everyone.

But I would still say it will be an 8 to 12 month timed exclusive anyway.

More like 2 weeks until Square Enix realized "Oh shit, we forgot about our fans back at Sony and Pc

Well, how else would third-party exclusives exist? It's always a trade-off where the platform owner pays the publisher. And it's always a bad thing. Exclusives should die, and one day consoles too (cue John Lennon's Imagine).

Don't worry, it will probably spend like 6 month as "XBox One only" and then will be released on PC and PS4.

Well, that's at least some good news then. I hate when they use the word "exclusive" and not putting timed in front of it. I figured this would be the case, good to hear that is the case!

If it's anything like the other reboot then no big loss. People without an XBox won't miss much by waiting a few months to waste their money on it.

MS would have to have offered an assload of money to make up for the sales loss Square-Enix takes putting it out for the system with a significantly smaller install base. Either that, or SE and Crystal Dynamics are desperate and need immediate funds.

Bad move, even with a timed exclusive IMO it does hurt a game a little once it releases on other platforms because a lot of people stopped caring about it or glimpsed it at a friend and don't need it anymore. I'm disappointed and I can't believe whatever amount of money they got for this is worth it. I never once wanted to buy a game or a console just because it's on that specific console, but it certainly does get me annoyed at everyone involved.

Well, whenever it comes out for the other formats, just don't buy it (or any other square enix stuff) until it gets dumped in bundles etc. Vote with your wallet, that's the only thing these so-called managers understand.

Sure buy games only in bundles and then whine "Why don't they make any more games?" :P

I'm specifically talking about this game, not games generally. Btw, what are you doing on sg then? Buy games, don't win them! *jk ;)

Wow, just wow... and I was going to pre-order it. What an idiotic move from SquareEnix, just ruined all my hype about the game. Just how much they were paid to sacrifice PC and PS sales so easy...

Sounds like a bad idea but I have both consoles so I don't really care. It's funny how people jump on the internet to cry and complain about stuff like this, it does no good.

Its highly unlikely that its exclusive. Microsoft doesn't really seem capable of third-party exclusives. I figure it'll spread to the other systems 6 months later, for the summer drought.

Meh, the newest reboot was good but not enough to pay top dollar for it. I dont mind waiting until its evenutal PC release, and then waiting even longer until its inevitable massive discount.

I can already see the headlines after it's out :

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Xbox exclusive) sold badly and will be the end of the Tomb Raider reboot. The expected sales were 5 million in the first month.

Well Prob get the Remastered Edition later just like everyone is doing now.

I think its a good thing for Xbox Owners but its a real fuck you to loyal PC and PS users as the series started on PC/PS/Sega Saturn at that time all the way (of course Sega makes nothing now).
