Telltale Batman
Fallout 2
Pillars of Eternity
Deus Ex 1
GTA San Andreas (or GTA IV if you want realism instead of political/social satire and a hefty dose of blaxplotation)
Mass Effects
Dragon Age: Origins
Transistor
Banner Sagas
Also, get Planescape: Torment on GOG.

yeah with the newer ones its all about making money to them so to advance they basically cram cash cards down your throat atleast in online pretty scummy business model

To be fair, the story in the BL games is passable. FPS titles are not known for their gripping storylines outside of a few exceptions.

Their storyline is not memorable. I doubt that anyone plays the Borderlands games for their storyline. They play them for the action mostly. Even if I accept they have a storyline, it can't be considered a decent one, since there's hardly one to find. Hence why I'm prejudiced for the Telltale version of Borderlands and Minecraft, since I can hardly believe they can include a storyline into these games. xD

Where's the story though? Is it hidden behind a door, below a desk, or is it something like an easter egg? :B

Yes, I'm trying to be funny - where's the problem in that? I told ya, there's no story. Batman games always have a story. All the missions are explaining the story and there's also always a description about the villains you encounter, in order to learn more about them.

I would say I enjoyed borderlands way more then the arkham games although not for the story but the fun gameplay

I have an idea. xD And I'm using sarcasm to state my opinion. I don't want anyone to notice me because I'm funny, like you said. I'm just stating my opinion. If you don't like it, then become a mod and ban me everytime I comment. Just because you have a different opinion, it doesn't mean that I'm wrong - or that you're wrong. Other than that, tell that to someone that cares.

Trading and commenting on forums is quite different, I think. No, I didn't give a proper answer to the question. It's just that I found it weird to hear someone saying that Borderlands games have a story, that's why I said that. Did I offend him? If I did, then I'm sorry, but don't you think he has an opinion of his own? You also answered in a funny way. What about that? Should I also get angry about that?

I tried the co op, is the single player any better?

I haven't played the coop, but the single player has proper FPS with the similar point collecting-upgrading, world has hidden relics with more backstory about the world, good voice acting, proper story with twists and events during it. It's linear and not superlong, but story and the gameplay is in sync

Personally, I really like Natural Selection 2 and Magicka 2. :)
Edit:
Actually, Natural Selection 2 may not be what you're looking for, since its "story" is just for setting the theme of a multiplayer game (but its gameplay is great, at least in my opinion).

yeah I tried natural selection just felt a bit strange, I played magicka 1 maybe I should try out 2

If you played Torchlight 2, maybe you will enjoy Path of Exile (it's free)

I've noticed Dust in your list, so you might wanna check Ori and The Blind Forest.

I actually tried transistor since I heard it was made by the creators of bastion but I didn't like it enough to even finish it...

The Dishonored games, Darksiders games and I personally also quite liked Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Also Sleeping Dogs is pretty good :)

I really like the story of the darksiders series tbh.

If you don't mind fighting through clunky controls, The Nomad Soul is an experience everyone should try at least once :-p
