Hello everyone,

i was recently very lucky on SG and won a few games. Thanks for all the generous gifts! 🙇‍♀️

as i was wanting to play one of those i wasnt able to find any of them in my library.
i couldnt find them neither by simply looking throught the list nor by using the search function.
The games themselves are marked as already in my library on the store page.
I thought that maybe they go by a different name in German.... but this doesnt seem to be the case.
i tried starting a game directly from the store page and it prompted me to the download properly and suddenly it was visible in my library.

Interestingly... free games i added to my account through their respective store page are displayed in my library without any problems. they even appear in the start page under "recent activity" (or whatever its called in english) "Manual Samuel" which was redeemed through HB appears just fine as well.... but my SG wins dont.
if its of any importance....I redeemed those keys through the in-SG-Redeem-function and the first one to not appear in mylibrary was won and redeemed on the 7th April.

does anyone know how this can happen and how to solve this without me having to download each and every game game now and in the future?
I appreciate any help 🙇‍♀️

thanks in advance!

EDIT:
restarting my Laptop helped. apparently there was some weird bug in the steam client.
thanks for all the advice! 👍
you guys are great!

What games particularly? I can see a few in there for sure, so it's not ALL games.

...in fact I haven't been able to see any missing games in your library of the first full page of games you won...

Have you tried quitting steam and reopening it, or even restarting your computer? I've never seen this issue.

Hi, i never said all games, just the recent ones i won here,e.g.

  • Enigmatis 2: The Mists of Ravenwood - i downloaded it (and playing it now) so it appears in my Library
  • Left in the Dark: No One on Board - appears as owned in store page, but doesnt appear in the library

... now that you said that... ive now visited my own profile (like from outside) and see the games normally in there... but they just dont appear in the library of the steam client.
quite mysterious ...

Maybe it's related to how you use or organize your library. Did you add them to some collection or hide them and forgot about it?

i wasnt even able to add them yet to any category yet as they are quite new like a game i just won yesterday
also while i tried using the search function and didnt get a result i also tried disabling all sorting options except for libraries (family sharing with my husband) and coukdnt find them
i dont have any hidden games as well

I've had games [activated through Steam's browser key registration] not show as owned properly within Steam.. pretty much every time I've activated a key, but that has always exclusively been within the store functions of the client (which the <Home> tab's Recent Activity feed may perhaps relate to; I haven't paid it enough mind to note whether it has had any issues), and has never given me an issue where the games don't show in library. The client does semi-regularly bug out if it's holding on to an update, though, so I've seen issues of the sort specific to that circumstance. That's about the only related occurance that comes to mind, though.

That said, I've had all sorts of random issues since they updated the client. Like, for the past two weeks, the Steam client has been showing as "active' [ie, green in the taskbar] regardless of circumstance. Nevermind how unstable the client was more closely following the update..

now that would be a very random but at the same time selective bug
do you know if there is a way to see if there are updates available?

Are they maybe hidden because they're not installed yet and you haven't unchecked "show only ready to play games"? Just checking to rule it out :)

Shouldn't be, if they're searching for the game, since the search function outright ignores the [Ready to Play] toggle and just shows everything (Even hidden games! Though thankfully they're at least sorted to the bottom of the search- unlike everything else, which drop associated categories and just get clumped together. -.-;). I'm not finding anything in the settings to change that, either.

Ah I thought searching with that checked would just show the ones you have installed. Never knew about the hidden games showing there either!

It's not so much an issue if you're searching by name- losing categories and having not-ready-to-play games showing isn't going to matter much, other than maybe making you type in a few additional characters to narrow the search.

The real issue is that it does the same thing when you're doing filter searches, as well, which can straight up sabotage the benefit of having a search function in the first place (in large part thanks to how inaccurate steam tags are, since both steam store and steam filter searches will sort in the games with even just a limited [and potentially inaccurate] support for a specific tag ).

Perhaps it's still "better than nothing" for those who don't have any established categories, but if you've already got some, I definitely can't see it being at all recommendable. As an example, if I use the "Co-Op" filter tag, it shows a mix of multiplayer games [co-op and pvp] and several single player games, as well. So.. yeah, not exactly ideal in its functioning. Likewise, since the search doesn't even allow for retaining categories, I can't just, say, run an "RPG" filter serach against my existing Co-Op categories.

tl;dr version: Valve Quality™
