Merry Christmas or Bah Humbug?!?!?
I actually considered posting this, kwanzaa and a few others but everything started getting convoluted. Not that I'm trying to oust my Jewish friends by any means, it's just easier to say that they're Bah Humbug (basically not in the spirit of Christmas) than to list quite a few religious takes on the holidays. It wasn't meant to be a derogative exclusion by any means, so I hope no offense is taken.

I really don't want to put on airs for this thread at all, it was made in a light manner and I'd like to keep it that way. As mentioned above I considered tossing many beliefs and religions into the mix just to see how diverse the community is and settled on a simple "to be, or not to be" mentality with a simple joke option for people that like to blaze their own trails. It's not that I'm not wishing you a happy holiday or giving you a cold shoulder. I just made a simple poll that is inclusive to Christmas that doesn't include other beliefs/religions/fan fiction/what have you.
I wrote this long post not to single you out or anything, I'm hoping other people read it too because I don't want to come off as an arrogant prick that only cares about Christmas! I'm probably one of the few people that genuinely could be considered humanitarian because I care about people! Just don't want to rub you the wrong way. Anyway, Happy Holidays!

I know you're not an arrogant prick and it wasn't an angry post. It was merely to remind you that christmas is not the only choice, that's all.
I do in fact celebrate some sort of christmas 'light'. I don't give a damn about it, but my family does so I tag along for one day and ignore the rest.

Well if it makes you feel any better Christmas has it's roots buried in pagan holidays (Saturnalia for example), and in fact when the church first started accepting Christmas as a holiday it still had the "orgies" and "sacrifices" from Saturnalia in many parts of Europe and it took a long time for them to fade out.
Then you also have Santa Claus's modern look which was helped along by the wonderful Coca Cola company and mass marketing since the 20's? Maybe it's the 30's, I'd have to go look but it's like 4:30am lol.
There's a lot you can really get in and knit pick about Christmas, probably like that with most holidays for that matter... For example, my girlfriend/fiancée is Native American, so she basically abhors Thanksgiving for obvious reasons.

little bit of both. yeah im excited to spend time with family and friends and go to christmas parties and stuff, and this is the first christmas since my dad died where i've not been a completely depressed wreck. i work retail and the holiday hours and ensuing paychecks have been wonderful, and i'm blessed to work somewhere without drama. the employees all get along with each other and most of the customers are really nice and patient and friendly.
but again i work in retail, so ive heard every friggin carol seventy times every friggin day since halloween and for every twenty nice customers ive had to deal with five friggin stressed-out customers who want to take their friggin rage out on cashiers because idk and they leave huge friggin messes everywhere and just pile up merchandise on the friggin floor and i just. want. this. christmas. to. be. over. with.
....so i just went with mister potato, that about sums up everything. also did not mean for this post to get so long sorry

I feel fortunate that I've been able to save up enough over the year to purchase a few small things for both my girlfriend, and my niece and nephews without stressing about feeding myself. But even if I couldn't, it's still Christmas, and I'd still be able to wish them a merry one. So, merry Christmas to you! (And thank you for the giveaways, too!)

So the poll was just a shameless way for me to pimp out my crummy giveaways :( even worse they're all sgtools protected. I said last time I was going to consider doing something different but I really like using sgtools (and I haven't quite figured out how to use their train function so sadly you have to go through one at a time)
