It sure used to be, but not anymore.
I for one think his music is actually decent if not even better than that.
We shouldn't judge the entire career of an artist just because he had some bad albums either when he/she first started or later in their lives. If that was the case, almost every band/artist should be considered shitty since there are only a handful of them who never failed one way or another. Also, since we're at it, people should also learn to separate the artist from the person. I really couldn't care less what somebody is doing in their private lives as long as I enjoy listening to their music or whatever they did in their lives, cause this doesn't only apply to musicians. :)

Because of the Assassins Creed series Templars are getting a bad name :(

Nah, they were good people protecting the Christians in and underway to Jerusalem.
Comment has been collapsed.
They also set up the worlds first multinational and invented cheques.

They worked for the church so yes they slaughtered infidels. But that was not their main business. They mainly protected the pilgrims who were on their way to Jerusalem. They participated in the religious wars in the Holy land but there weren't that many Templars so most battles were fought by "normal" knights and soldiers with just a handful of Templars.

http://www.history.com/shows/pirate-treasure-of-the-knights-templar/about
"Lost treasure is the foundation of legends and lore, and the greatest lost treasure of all belonged to the Knights Templar. Now, from the medieval fortified cities of Europe to the holy lands of the Middle East and from a secret pirate island in the Indian ocean to America’s first great cities, renowned underwater explorer Barry Clifford and historian Scott Wolter are unearthing new evidence in an attempt to find hidden links between two of history’s most legendary sects, separated by 500 years: the medieval Knights Templar and 17th century pirates. What they learn may very well alter the course of history and lead them to treasure that’s been buried for centuries"
Not that i have watched it (it sounded interesting atleast) but i always forget those things whenever a channel isn't within the first 15 channels, but the trailer comments made it sound it atleast that way, as to the real conclusions, that i don't know.

When it comes to the Templars and Freemasons I'm pretty much a history buff but I never heard of them being pirates, I will check out that documentary and might even let you know what I thought about it, if you'd care for that of course.

These orders accepted anyone who was ready to give up on their lives and join the "noble cause", reason why they were not allowed to own anything in their possession, but whatever they were wearing. Their members were well trained, equipped, disciplined and religious people. They were not allowed to plunder, rape, steal, do unnecessary killing etc, so everyone felt safe in their presence.

Actually I always found AC offers a rounded look without black and white stereotypes.
Specially in the latest installments I found it pretty obvious that Assassins and Templars are just 2 sides of a coin with different approches to the same problem.
Comment has been collapsed.
AC Rogue showed that the best imo. Enjoyed that game a lot :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I've recently bought it for XBox360 because in Unity (which I'm currently playing) they have this collection which shows you which games and merchandise you own (even over different platforms - brilliant marketing idea by the way) and Rogue was (beside the statues and stuff) the only thing I was missing so I wanted to get it before the big stores here stop carrying it (happened to me with Mass Effect). But I haven't tried it yet because I have to finish Unity first :)
Comment has been collapsed.
First thing I did in AC Rogue was collecting the Templar outfit.
I have Unity also but it runs like crap on my pc (having above minimum specs). I like the setting a lot and Paris looks breath taking but I refuse to play it on 30fps, it makes me sick.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same reason I play AC and most other AAA games on console because my PC couldn't handle them. I assume I'm still playing with 30fps but still way better than the slideshow they would turn into on my PC :D

Yeah for some reasons 30fps feels different on a console, played many games on console too and never had that feeling of choppy gameplay but with 30fps on pc it feels very choppy.

I know, but still I notice a big difference when playing a game on 30 in stead of 60fps.

I want your Synth eyes... clearly yours see higher rates than the normal human :3 There's literally no difference, except the number on the FPS counter... I even lock my of my games to max 25, because 30 starts to look too unnatural but under 20 it goes cluncy and trolled up
Comment has been collapsed.
Believe me that there are many people who notice a difference between 30 and 60fps, you don't need superhuman eyesight for that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nobody does... Already tasted it with a FPS QQer with his super PC... Had my FPS counter up so he saw it was 30 FPS, cried like hell that it lags. Made it to 60 FPS, he said it was smooth... Next time I tried it i disabled the fps counter and turned the 60 FPS first, he cried it lags... then I lowered it to 30 w.o. him seen and magically he said it works perfect... That's how "FPS" is noticable...

They're only bad in some of the games though! Like in the first game they were the "bad guys" but they were no worse than the assassins. It really made you question whether the templars were actually better than the assassins. Same in assassin's creed 3 and Rogue. Some of the games do a really good job of showing not everything's black and white, there's always a grey area. They're not evil in every game :)

not too hard either, always depend on your priorities and where you want to move. personally, it seems to me that it would be quite important to you to move asap, when you want to completely nuke a country instead of trying to change stuff. sitting there and saying you want to nuke Germany won't make op happy.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you don't have the financial means to move to another country, it can become really hard. Sure, if you have a nice education and some money, it's not too hard, but not everyone has that.
It wasn't me that said I wanted to nuke Germany. I don't even live in Germany (although it is only 30 or so minutes away)

True, true. Sorry didn't mean you with my post, wanted to generalize it a bit. Well, I don't know about OP's private/financial situation, just thought it could not be that hard to someone that can afford living in germany and paying their very high prices for internet and owns a steam acc with almost 2.8k gamesto move to another country. In addition to that, I don't understand how you hat a country so much that you want to nuke it, but at the same time use its most famous and capital city as your username.
Then again, I guess I can be glad to not be able to look into some people's minds.

I guess that's your unpopular opinion right there!
But I do agree with you. The LOTR movies were not perfect. At the time of their release, they did something special though, they showed the world that fantasy movies can work for a wide audience, and it helped move a lot of geek-culture related things out of the geek-niche.
The movies do drag a bit, and I feel that some of the things they opted to include were the wrong ones (most obvious in the second movie, with all the jokes. While they were in the books, there was more inbetween them, thus the jokes ended up feeling more forced in the movies).
But truth to be told, I don't think Tolkien was a particularly good author. He was a great world builder, but not a good author. I like Middle Earth as a setting, and there's been a lot of good material created based on it, I just wish the person actually writing the books had been someone else (I do like Bilbo though).
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't agree Tolkien is a bad writer, though I totally understand how one can get bored by the books.
Anyway, if you hadn't had the movies, now converts would obsess over something else and wouldn't be angry with you for questioning the most bestest thing ever written by a man.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not so much that I found the books to be boring as I found them to be annoying to read. Tolkien had a way of doing foreshadowing which I did not think worked. The pacing is also inconsistent, and that's not helped by how he can sometimes decide to give something a very long description, even if it's something unimportant, while he decides to give other things far too short descriptions, making the writing itself inconsistent as well. And it's so dry. Crime & Punishment, a book that sometimes goes overboard with its descriptions, and is considered a relatively heavy read, feels less dry than LOTR.

Thirdly, I don't like the world design. Fourthly the DLC model, Fifthly, the writing looks as if it was done by a 3 y/o trying to hard to be funny. Sixthly, the memes.

Aren't a free healthcare system, free education and most of these free stuff for everyone features of communism? Most of Europe does that well, but the problem is that people see communism as the opposite of freedom... because that's what history tells us. And they're right.
Comment has been collapsed.
To be fair, no self-proclaimed communist government has ever really made any attempts to actually live up to that ideology; it's just an easy buzzword to get people to join your side with pretty words and ideals. That's not any different than how the west uses words like freedom, democracy, equality etc. while generally ignoring those ideals whenever it suits them. It's not a problem with any particular ideology, but rather with the people who use those ideologies for their own personal gain. When you get right down to it, all of the problems that were present in the Soviet Union are present in the west as well. The vast majority of wealth and the means of production are still in the hands of a very small number of people; the only difference is that we're raised to think this is okay when it's individuals who have it instead of when the state has it (I honestly don't see how there's any difference between the two). Furthermore, the politicians are still hilariously corrupt for the exact same reasons (that's probably going to end about the same way too).
The point is, the problem has nothing to do with communism (or any other ideology) as it isn't opposed to freedom in any way (in fact, Marxism supports far more freedom than capitalism does). The problem lies with people, and not just because it's human nature to be an asshole. Society plays at least as much of a role, if not a bigger one, in shaping the kind of person someone grows up to be. If it fails here, then you're going to get people who only think of themselves and abuse their power for their own profit regardless of what ideology they pretend to ascribe to. I do apologize for the rant, but it seriously bothers me when people say communism is somehow incompatible with freedom. That just shows that revolutions rarely ever work out the way most of the revolutionaries intended (it happened with the French Revolution too so there's plenty of evidence it has nothing to do with the specific ideology). That's not to say communism doesn't face some serious practical challenges; it absolutely does. However, so does every other system and ideology every government has ever had and they all eventually break down and collapse.
I'm neither defending communism nor attacking capitalism (I think applying labels to different ideologies is dangerous and makes it very easy to dismiss a large number of very different theories by grouping them together in one large category); I'm just saying that neither one is ideologically opposed to things like freedom, equality, democracy etc. but both have serious practical problems accommodating those things. Capitalist countries have managed to do it better so far, but it's already pretty clear that they're starting to lose that battle too. Since my pessimism is coming through here I feel like I should end with some kind of uplifting solution to these problems. So, abandon all hope and praise Cthulhu for he (it?) will save us all. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
tl;dr The problem has nothing to do with the ideologies in question and has everything to do with the fact that, with very few exceptions, those in power will abuse the hell out of that power in order to benefit themselves. This has the unfortunate side-effect of making the principles they pretend to believe in look like shit (for more examples, see every single politician in every single US election for the past thirty years).
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem with overpowered people in both of them is that the people having the power in communism are the ones with relationships, people born in powerful families and attending universities made for them to keep that power (doesn't matter what they studied, it was about being there). At least that's how it worked here.
In capitalism, people with power and/or money are people having relationships, people born in powerful or rich families or people with enough luck to rise up from nothing. It's that last part that makes capitalism sound like the land of opportunity, when really it's just a way for rich people to have more money in a legit way. Communism technically puts a limit on that money, when really power allows for them to make regular people (which should be everyone according to the base idea) not know about anything they do or own.
As an ideal, communism works much much better than capitalism, but in reality humans fucked it up. And like I said before, it's partially applied (free healthcare, education, also basic income sounds like a communist idea to me). Oh, yeah, and the fact that calling someone a communist is an insult (at least here) is a problem that means our generation won't get to see anything change.
Extra: communism doesn't mean "not democracy", communism actually works best as a democracy. But corruption always kicks in before the chance at democracy. Like Romania, when they forced our king to resign, turning us into Russia's puppet until '89, when we went to the most corrupt "democracy" possible. This got semi-fixed with the last elections (when we picked German above obvious puppet). But it was hard, because people decided to vote for the obvious puppet because they got a free bag of food...
Comment has been collapsed.
Then we're pretty much in agreement. I apologize, I took the last part of your comment to be the typical communism = tyranny spiel which is reinforcing the idea that being a communist is an insult (I seriously don't think the majority of people who use it that way even know what communism actually is). The problem, like you said, is people and they can and will fuck up anything. It's depressing to hear the kinds of problems you're having over there, but at least it sounds like you're slowly making things better.

Most any fantasy games and especially ARPGs use clichés to death. It is more about how they use it. Blizzard is good at setting up plots and carrying them without stumbling on their own feet (unlike Bethesda GS since Oblivion). they can make even dialogue-based stories engaging enough that I managed to wade through StarCraft and its expansion, even though I still maintain that it is one of the most broken mess of an RTS I ever played…

But tennis is a great 'game' sport.

Communism shouldn't be bad if carried out properly.
Keep in mind that Communism in it's essence is basically a utopian ideology, and the only way it could work is if every single person would be completely dedicated to it. Think Paradise, where not a single soul is willing to do harm to others.
I recommend you read Lord of the Flies by William Golding if you didn't already. It explores the idea of such a community, where everybody would work together to achieve common goals. Also, the characters are all kids, which suggests that they are all innocent beings and are not driven by malice.

The elins have one driving goal: if it’s not good for nature, stop it. Older and wiser than they appear, they join with forces of nature and mortal races to sweep their enemies from the battlefield.
Basically, they are supposed to be older than they appear and they look like child... sounds like justification for pedophilia to me.

the weirdest anime was in the early/mid 90's
everything was incredibly gory and oversexualized, i love violence, but it shows how Japan perceived Otakus at the time and how they where dealing with those repressed feelings.
Maybe now, they are a bit too open about it. There is way too many 12y old girls with huge boobs.
Comment has been collapsed.
I steered clear of the oversexualized ones, and anything that was too gory. There was a lot of good anime though, and I know there still is. The main thing that turned me off was when it started turning to the other extreme and getting way to cutesy. I do like a little of the cutesy stuff, but it's gone too far. Also the sexualized children thing is disgusting.

I think that Witcher 3 is overrated. Fantasy-RPG should not be that popular because it is limited genre with very niche audience. Well, it was until they added million sex scenes and billion quests with sexual narrative in the game...
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm genuinely confused about the million sex scene and billion quest with sexual narrative part. How could I missed those in the past 180 hours? And of course it is overrated after almost all of the other worthless, empty and soulless AAA titles with absolutely no message just shiny graphics and the intent to rip you off for cheap entertainment. I don't say it's perfect but by todays standards its hella close to it.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you haven't noticed this, you've probably sleeping while playing. I also have no idea how can one waste 180 hours in 40-50 hour single-player game, pure fun I guess.
"Other games" is not argument at all, yet every single W3 fan in every freaking discussion reminder us about other "soulless AAA-games" where they didn't get a message (I wonder how you haven't called me Fallout 4 fanboy yet!)
Soul is also not a thing, very subjective and pretty much nonsense. In Mother Russia STALKER being considered as a game with soul, but nobody can explain the meaning of word "Soul" in computer game. Soulful game is basically a game where the player feels comfortable, this has nothing to do with game quality, and as I said, is very subjective.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was very sure the word fanboy would get involved in this conversation, though not like this. I was kinda sure I would get called this way, I'm not a fan of like anything. Someone plays CS for 2k hours noone bats an eye, I play an open world rpg for 180+ hours and everyone loses their minds...And yes,it was fun,why would I have played it for this long if it wasn't(btw this includes the 2 expansions).I just stated that I liked the game, because it had ideas behind it, and felt the guys really made an effort to make a quality product. And please, for clarification, if you can show me more than 20 sexual intercourses in the game I would eat my hat. If you cannot accept adult themes like sex in video games, the game is not for you in the first place. And as I said it's not perfect. As of stalker, I liked it because of the atmosphere, but nothing special.
Comment has been collapsed.
Very expected comparsion of competetive multiplayer gameplay with people and single-player gameplay with AI and restricted quantity of content. That's why I don't like W3 fans, they compare this game to anything. Well, then here is my suggestion: poop takes 10-15 minutes so it is bad action with no soul at all. W3 is so much better than taking shit.
I will not show you all the sex themes, dialogues about sex, or sex context in general, it will take too much time to capture them all. If you wish, just come to W3 Community Hub in Steam, or any W3 forum/discussion, you will see that most of pictures are about naked asses and titties, the hottest discussion is about who to screw up in this game and moral dilemmas about this decision.
I didn't say that sex offends me, I said it is main reason why W3 is so overhyped, while just being a good RPG.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like how you generalize me as a witcher 3 fan while pointing out I'm generalizing multiplayer games. As for the content, it's clear that it means a completely different thing for us. There's no hate towards multiplayer games, but it's content means nothing to me. And if you compare games to taking a dump then yes, I'd rather take a dump than play CS in given time, though both are repetitive and mundane. I won't say witcher would be the same without sex, because it would be still good, but not full, like life. And talking about screwing up people, what is competitive mp about? Dominating your opponent, and it makes you happy. But I don't want to fight, made my point, we agree to disagree, have a good day sir.
Comment has been collapsed.
IMO, with less sex Witcher 3 would definitely not have that large fanbase and wouldn't be so overrated. This is what I said in my first post. No hate towards anyone, besides hype-train which don't want to stop. Well it's all about taste anyway, but this is just unfair success and nothing more (IMO)

I just picked it up on sale and have been playing it this week to break in my new gtx 1080 and while i can say it looks fantastic the controls and movement are finicky at best , it defiantly looks like a new game but plays like and old one, making you make fine movements to click an object with a very small margin of error to interact with it but then having only rough movements you cant just take a small step in the game he only moves with large strides very annoying at times.the combat in the game also seems a bit clumsy and unintuitive. i dont mind the sexual narrative more then half the population of the world has sex on there minds 24/7 doesn't bother me in a mature rated game.

Have to partly agree with you. While main story is good and there is some interesting side quests rest of the game felt.. dull.

What do you mean by "no basis in the natural world"? Humans have a moral system and so do many animals and we all exist in nature. Try stealing food from a dog for instance.

Oh gosh. As an American, this drives me insane. Sometimes people act like we're the only country that has freedom. Maybe that was true in 1780, but now....yeah that's not the case.

The funny thing is that greenlight is still letting very bad games, all you need is good place to advertise ("free key guys for a shitty game if you vote for this"). And if you don't have it you can struggle to get good game through greenlight.

Infininate Warfare doesn't look bad and Bf1 doesnt look promising.
New Vegas sucks.
Got isn't that great and The walking dead is boring af.

What? I hear that WD is boring much more often than the other way especially the opinion of it starting great but falling flat shortly after. GoT isn't great but just good, many people say that except for fans. BF1 is overhyped before release, many say that too. And F:NV vs. F3 debate was very popular at the time with 'sucks' heard from the both sides.

WD might be boring quite often but the sixth season was pretty good. Game of thrones is great, for the fans of that show. There are A LOT of fans of that show. Which means what when somebody says its not great, he is in the minority. That makes it an unpopular opinion. Most of the people I talked to says they like new vegas more. I cant say anything for sure tho. He didnt say that battlefield is overhyped, he said it doesnt LOOK promising. I think that if there in 1 game in the history of gaming that LOOKED promising, its BF1

That doesn't contradict the fact that it is boring even if most of the time.

Nope. Not true. I can't think of any instance of fans being in the majority.
Most of the people I talked to says they like new vegas more.
That is purely anecdotal. You can google F3 vs F:NV for more opinions.
Overhyped == appearing to be good for many, but not being in the reality. In the case of not yet released game that means 'not actually promising'.

Half Life is my favorite game. We definitely can never be friends :)). Every time I hear someone say they didn't like it I die a little inside since it set the bar for FPS and the sequel did the same. I don't get what people expect from it that it doesn't deliver. Ah well.
EDIT: You should really try Portal, you need to find out why the cake is a lie.

for my defense, i don't like fps at all ;)
and the cake is a lie, the potato is the new ruler

Yep, I know that. And we call sweet crackers cookies here.
I find it fun how different languages have the same words but they can mean completely different things.
For instance, jelly in Australia is called jello or gelatin in the US, but jelly here is called jam most other places.
Edit: what do you call those kind of biscuits where you're from?

1) That's weird in more ways than I can put into words.
2) Not sure why you think women need underwear for hygiene reasons but men don't.
3) You always shower after you use the toilet? What if you have to go at work or literally anywhere but home?
4) You might wanna enjoy the modern day comfort of indoor plumbing instead.
5) You've lost me at 1 already.
6) Most would disagree.
8) Most would once again disagree.
10) No, it shouldn't, it only sounds fun until your obese hairy uncle shows up.
And somehow 7 is still the worst statement on that list.
You're either trolling hard on this thread or are by far the weirdest person I've "met" in recent memory. Either way slow clap.

Terry is a far more interesting Batman than Bruce.

I've only seen Dick as Robin, but I'm definitely willing to take your word on it. I've always liked him as a character.

GTA's from San Andreas on are trash, Borderlands is thrash. Fallout 4 is trash. Skyrim is trash and the Binding of Isaac is as if zelda was done by an angsty "rebelious" teenager, ergo trash.
