Weighing in at 220 GB, Steam takes up more than 50% of my used space. Of my 427 used GB, Steam takes up slightly more than everything else combined. Wow. And I just bought Valve complete, THQ complete, and 2K super mega pack. And I plan to install the other 74 games I own. How big is everyone else's steam hard drive?

On a related note, is there any way to mass install games? Especially helpful if anyone knows how to get rid of 2+ downloads suspending each other.

ITS OVER 9000
No but in all seriousness its about 50 gb for me, but I just fresh installed windows so I haven't had the chance to download all my games yet.

i would only install them if you're going to play them...i don't see a point in installing 100+ games when you'll end up playing only a few at a time

Just in case, you know? I want to be able to sit down at my comp, and instead of being bored, pick a random game I've never played and spend a day beating it. Y'know?

As it stands, my Steam drive is at 345GB out of 465(500). Gonna be deleting all the F2P games I have to make more room, because I still haven't downloaded any of my Christmas gifts yet.

Luckily my Steam is on my 1 TB HDD, as opposed to my 128 GB SSD, so I still have 500 GB to fill before I need to start deleting.

320GB (283GB) Harddrive, 40 games installed, 127GB used by Steam.
Small harddrive forces me to prioritice what games I want, but I guess it doesn't work all that well :P

Ouch, only 1/7 of your games at a time? Must be tough. Imagine being one of those people with 700+ games. Easily a 2 TB hard drive just for Steam

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, that's all I can have. I'm planning to buy a new internal harddrive, but I already have 2 external 2TB-drives, so yeah. It might have to wait :P
Still, the computer was free from school, so it wouldn't hurt to invest on a harddrive myself.

I believe you can pop off the cover of an external drive and connect it inside the computer. Unless, of course, it's a laptop.

Wow. Which games? That's like 12GB each

Comment has been collapsed.

Rage takes 25GB. Total War Shogun 2 says it takes 32GB. One game like that would account for around half of that 58.6GB.

Saints Row the Third lists 10GB for the base game. Warhammer 40K Space Marine lists 10GB after install. I'd guess other relatively modern console ports are around the 10GB range. Far Cry 3 is listed as needing 15GB of hard drive space, while Borderlands 2 says 13GB, so the console port size has only increased in recent years.

Games like Team Fortress 2 and Dungeon Defenders have been gradually ballooning since release. Any game with a lot of DLC or extras added is going to get progressively bigger, and you might not even notice how big they've gotten since you installed them.

They always list more than they actually need, for instance Borderlands 2 is 7.18gb installed.

The amount it goes over varies. It may also be padded for different reasons. Space Marine is the only game I recall that gave the space required to install (20GB) and a separate space after install value (10GB), the latter of which was probably still padded.

Specs on Steam store says Shogun 2 takes 32GB. Local files option says it is currently taking 20,000MB on my drive. On the other hand, store says Dungeon Defenders requires 2GB, but the installed game and its DLC is now at 6,000MB. And then you get the close to accurate cases, like Alice: Madness Returns. Store page says 8.5GB and Steam Local Files option tells me it is using 8,185MB.

I try to only keep a few big games installed when they are coming up next on my "To Play List," I still have a lot of indie games installed, but they are fairly small games for the most part. 143GB for 36 installed games of my 465GB drive.

355 games installed, steam folder size is 710gb. I delete a game only after i finished it and/or got all achievements. I keep them installed for the case someday i'll be too broke to pay my 85€ monthly inet bill and they will prevent me from dying of boredom.

Ya dude, I asked for a new 750gb HDD because my 320gb one was full... This one, I have two drives, one with 100gb, the other with 600gb (50gb is used up by something else) and I have 464gb left on the 600gb one... All of that minus like 10gb, is Steam...

Of my 130 Games in my library I have 8 that are not installed, and my steam folder is sitting at 190GB. 168,949 Files in 8,388 folders.

Eek!

Think back to the Amiga days, I had a 100 Mb HD in my GVP A530 40Mhz accelerator, and that was cutting edge! (and about half full!)

I installed a 3.2Gb HD in it though, and watched it format it as one partitiion (it took hours!), way before the pc could do more than 2GB partitions.
