EA's support is indeed very good :3 Steam needs some help with that

+1
EA likes to give free games away....I have received one myself:D

And I'll receive one when they get the codes through!

EA like to do this because it encourages people to use Origin. They give you loads of free stuff right now to promote their platform. Believe me, the good times wont last that long!

Well, what happened was the "elevated me" to a higher support area since the guy I was dealing with only dealt with the game itself, and now it's on receiving the game.

Nah, not only that, it depend's on the company's support policy and the system and the standard for the people they hire and supervision over them. Because no matter what you can't say that the difference between Steam Support and Amazon Support is just the luck of encountering the right person. For example Amazon and Origin has a feature to chat with support while in Steam you can't even send email, only submit a ticket which takes ages to get a response.

Yeah, I started off in a chat and now I am emailing with the person.

EA's support is fantastic. I bought the Mass Effect pack off Amazon and found out the ME 1 was not redeemable on origin or steam, just downloadable from amazon. Support added ME 1 right to my account.

Same with me. No issues, only used it once though.

Well, I had seen in a hundred different places that they were awful, so I just agreed with everyone naturally, and now, i think they are pretty good.

EA has some problems in their marketing and platforms the use to distribute their games.... and the dlcs.... and other things, but their support is excellent. I always try to get on chat or call them, never like sending emails.

They were "following procedures" as I was explained.
Shashank: Have you performed the steps correct?
you: well, while we're chatting here I'm sure you're not gonna ask me to reconnect my ethernet cable and reboot my router to make sure I have internet connection are you?
Shashank: I am just asking that have you performed the steps or not that's it.?
you: I did not reboot my router, if you're in doubt
you: I did disable my firewall though
Shashank: Okay.
Shashank: Would you mind holding for a couple of minutes while I fetch some relevant information?
you: I'll wait right here

And this is one of the reasons I had thought they were bad. I heard that they will go as far as to tell you to delete Program Files (x86)

You can shit on EA all that you want, but at least, their support is kinda nice and they help very often
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I wasn't shitting on them. I was at first, but now, this chick is awesome because I'm about to receive free games just because my disk is corrupt (when I bought it like 6 years ago)!

The hating on Origin's support was just because of all this bushiness with support not giving refunds fir SimCity and even threatening to ban which is completely understandable, first of all it wasn't support decision to do this, it was the EA executives. And second it's the obvious course of action, I doubt any company would refund almost all of it's customers just due to a launch problem.
And while I'm not saying Origin support is as amazing as Amazon's, but compared to Steam's they are like saints. And I also had many good experience with Origin Support.

Yeah, Steam just sends you automated messages and crap, and tells me I need to delete my entire steam folder minus Steamapps in order to keep my non-steam games in my library... Origin gives me free games when my 6 year old disk is corrupt...

This is nothing :)))
I contacted EA support on live chat system to activate some of my old games because their activation pages didn't work.
I ended up with Crysis Warhead Chinese edition in my library and the guy told me they only offer Crysis Warhead digital download in Chinese, Japanese and Czech :))))
Also they activated MW 2012 instead of MW 2005 and they weren't able to activate Shank 1 & 2 because they don't offer digital download for games that old.
After the chat session ended I tried to activate Warhead again on one of their pages and guess what, it worked :)))))) And it's in English. But now I have 2 Warheads in my library :)))
Not to mention that they made me make a pogo.com account to activate the games since my old personas (WTF is this anyway?) were not recognized by their own web activation services because I had "too many" (actually last time I had to contact them for a game activation the dude told me the game won't activate because I don't have ENOUGH personas:| so I had to create 2 new ones).
Unfortunately I have to agree with some guys here. EA support is better than Steam's and way waaaaaaaaaaay much better than Ubisoft's support (still having years old tickets opened with no answer).

EA's is far from good, from my experience. I was having issues with Burnout Paradise, and all EA did was ask for my name and email, then take twenty minutes between each response before disconnecting. I must have contacted them eight times before they forwarded me to their specialists, who could actually help me.

It took EA eight months of back-and-forth phone calls, chats, and emails for them to finally admit that the audio engine in Bad Company 2 and MoH 2010 was crashing my system. I ended up getting BF3 free out of it, but I'm still not sure the entire experience was worth it. Eight months for them to admit to something I knew to be true a month into the whole process. What a freaking nightmare.
EA's tier 1 support is the worst in the business. It's outsourced to India, and they know how to do nothing beyond read from their little scriptbooks. Tier 2 is slightly better, but you have to call them directly to get anyone effective and there's always the chance they won't bother calling you back after first contact. Tier 3 is where you get the most competent help, and those are the guys you want to talk to if you're looking for free games. I've seriously received four free games from EA because they couldn't manage to competently fix my problems.

EA is pure evil, a dark sinister being cloaked in shadow and flames.

Steam support keeps giving me this whenever they don't know how to fix a problem:
"Hello Jason,
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue.
We are aware of the problem and are investigating the issue further.
For news regarding the latest updates and patches, please check the SteamPowered News page:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/"
This means: "We don't know how to fix this nor will we fix it. Have a crappy day. XOXO Steam Support"
At least if Origin Support can't help, they'd give me some 15% off promo codes...lolz

I have never had problem with EA or Origin support. It is always Steam support that gives me the cut and paste answers.
My ME1 couldn't be activated anymore so the support officer just gave it to me free on Origin. Second time with EA support my ME2 key was nabbed by somebody, so they asked me to take a picture with my name, ticket number, receipt and game case opened. They also reimbursed me with a copy on Origin and gave me some 25% off coupon codes for my trouble. Steam support would have just told me to fuck off.

yeah, their support is still terri-bad when it comes to anything technical...
i was talking to them for 6 HOURS (want to stress this point) and at the very start i told them "i have downloaded the game but in the install process it gets stuck at 99% and won't go any further" and they kept telling me to port-forward, which i had done prior in the first place...
i started googling at the 3 hour mark because of their lack of proper knowledge... turns out that when i want to install anything on origin i have to remove my graphics card drivers and allow origin to install fresh ones because it tries overwriting with an inferior/the same update to what i currently have (this includes installing updates to games)

this is also only the first incident over 2 hours long i have been through with them... i have had about several ranging from 3-5 hours in length and again i solved before they did (keep in mind i was talking to about 3 or 4 people from support in separate windows on my computer and i still beat them to the solution)

Wow... This was the same with the first part because it was specifically on the disk, but now they just gave me a free copy of Battlefield 2, not the one I had... Oh well!

Last time I posted a topic like this, it was my first encounter with them... And as you can see, I thought they were awful...
Well... Now, I'm changing that point of view...
So after I waited for like two weeks for a reply, someone finally answered me, and it didn't seem like a robot was talking. And the lady on the other end basically told me that she would try to set me up with FREE digital copies of Battlefield 1942, Road to Rome, Secret Weapons of World War II, and Vietnam, and that was pretty much it.
Then, I replied just making sure I understood what she meant, and sure enough, she replied back. And not only that, we had a small discussion on which Battlefield we thought was best (she said 1942 for nostalgia, I said Vietnam for helicopters), and then she also said she though Bad Company 2 was the best because of the destructible scenery and didn't give snipers too much of an advantage.
So yeah, it seems as though EA's support isn't just terrible... Maybe I should stop believing everything I see on the internet...
