That's new! As a non-native speaker, I have an impression that "pro gamers" and "professional players" are interchangeable.
In my native language, "player" is a hypernym of "gamer". So "(game) player" is translated as "người chơi (trò chơi)", "gamer" as "game thủ".
I think "game thủ" is more modern. It became popular around 201x along with MOBA games. In gaming context, medias will use "game thủ" when they target teenager, and "người chơi" otherwise.
In a similar fashion, "football player" as "người chơi bóng đá" - "cầu thủ", "chess player" as "người chơi cờ vua" - "kì thủ". The shorter variants are preferred.

Yes yes, they are. It's just that they are connotated differently, I am more used to see "pro gamer" in an ironic, mocking way. Even just "gamer" tbh, but it's becoming more and more "normal" over the past few years or more.

What does "thủ" mean? Is it player or "person that does that thing"? I see "người chơi" and "thủ" are interchangeable but I'm curious about their specific meaning.

Feel the same really, at least the issue of being prevented from buying anything at all hasn't resurfaced this month (just tested it). It's be a shame really because time-wise this is a more manageable vault time for my time zone (as opposed to the middle of the night as many of them have been recently), which is a nice change. Had thought about Planet Coaster but it seems like such a DLC-sink in waiting that it kinda puts me off. Maybe one of the indies will hang around long enough to be discounted.

Bummer dude 😕, it might be different if there were a guarantee but it's always a tradeoff. There were a couple earlier in the year which were 3am/4am local time, I had to let them pass because I need to wake up for work at 5.30am most Saturdays. I can only hope they keep shifting the time to spread the convenience/inconvenience around a bit for non-US users.

Same. It feels like being scammed. I get that it's free but what good is it if you can't get it? And it takes quite a bit of time to gather ARP. It's because thousands of people refreshed the page at the same time, just like you and me and everyone else in this thread probably. There's hundreds of keys for thousands of people. Call it frustrating, but it's definitely not a scam. And I would know, since I've gotten multiple games from the vault in the past couple of months. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you lose.

It's almost impossible to manage such spikes, since thousands of people are refreshing literally in the same second, many probably multiple tabs at once. That's how DDoSing works. ^^

It's just a supply-demand and inadequate hardware problems. Will fixing these issues increase Alienware profit? I think not, so they won't fix them soon.
Life is too short, game is not essential. I won't be upset because I can't claim the game I most want. Why "most"? There are seven choices, just pick one and move on. If you really like the game, then buy it on sale.

I didn't tell you to buy the game from that "scam" website. I told you to buy the game you really like on sale with real money, from Steam or official retailers. If I didn't make it clear before, I'm really sorry.
I do daily things like you, but I let them run in the background, so I spend at most 15 minutes a day, typically less than 5 minutes. Due to my work/life, I have my laptop run for hours per day, so this is suitable for me.
There is no such thing as free in this world. There is always a price that needs to be paid - be it money, time, or effort - by you or someone else.
For example, free and open source software is only free per money. People still need to invest time and effort to make it happen.
Alienware is a for-profit company, and I found that the Game Vault provides quality games from time to time, so expecting it to be totally free without ARP is impractical.
Since I could get a game each month if my balance permits, I'll continue to exploit the site to my heart content.
Well, the only things you could get for totally free from the sky are raindrop and bird shit.

people do get these games, its just thousands of people trying for a game they only have hundreds or whatever of. Be there at :00, use multiple tabs to try claim it (since sometimes the page just doesn't work lol), and try not to go for the game EVERYONE wants.
