That's new! As a non-native speaker, I have an impression that "pro gamers" and "professional players" are interchangeable.
In my native language, "player" is a hypernym of "gamer". So "(game) player" is translated as "người chơi (trò chơi)", "gamer" as "game thủ".
I think "game thủ" is more modern. It became popular around 201x along with MOBA games. In gaming context, medias will use "game thủ" when they target teenager, and "người chơi" otherwise.
In a similar fashion, "football player" as "người chơi bóng đá" - "cầu thủ", "chess player" as "người chơi cờ vua" - "kì thủ". The shorter variants are preferred.

Feel the same really, at least the issue of being prevented from buying anything at all hasn't resurfaced this month (just tested it). It's be a shame really because time-wise this is a more manageable vault time for my time zone (as opposed to the middle of the night as many of them have been recently), which is a nice change. Had thought about Planet Coaster but it seems like such a DLC-sink in waiting that it kinda puts me off. Maybe one of the indies will hang around long enough to be discounted.

Bummer dude 😕, it might be different if there were a guarantee but it's always a tradeoff. There were a couple earlier in the year which were 3am/4am local time, I had to let them pass because I need to wake up for work at 5.30am most Saturdays. I can only hope they keep shifting the time to spread the convenience/inconvenience around a bit for non-US users.

It's because thousands of people refreshed the page at the same time, just like you and me and everyone else in this thread probably. There's hundreds of keys for thousands of people. I didn't tell you to buy the game from that "scam" website. I told you to buy the game you really like on sale with real money, from Steam or official retailers. If I didn't make it clear before, I'm really sorry.
I do daily things like you, but I let them run in the background, so I spend at most 15 minutes a day, typically less than 5 minutes. Due to my work/life, I have my laptop run for hours per day, so this is suitable for me.
There is no such thing as free in this world. There is always a price that needs to be paid - be it money, time, or effort - by you or someone else.
For example, free and open source software is only free per money. People still need to invest time and effort to make it happen.
Alienware is a for-profit company, and I found that the Game Vault provides quality games from time to time, so expecting it to be totally free without ARP is impractical.
Since I could get a game each month if my balance permits, I'll continue to exploit the site to my heart content.
Well, the only things you could get for totally free from the sky are raindrop and bird shit.

Well, I was a member as well, but a few years ago they completely redesigned their point system and when I logged in again my points were reduced to almost 0 and there was this crazy tier system.
Ever since all the worthy games that were on my wishlist (so the ones I would actually PLAY and therefore redeem) are linked to crazily high, i.e. T4 requirements. And so the selected few people just sell these codes on various sites. Oh well.

If you get 40 points (which is a LOT) per day x30, that means you earn 1200 points/month.
That means ~10 months.
I'm still a fair bit away from that and I didn't start from 0 as I said.
ALSO: According to steamgifts, this new tier system started in April 2022 - which I argue with, since there were no points back then just tier 1 and tier 2 requirements (I actually managed to get a DLC to Dead by Daylight).
The correct date I believe is April 2023 (!) as you can see the emergence of the crazy tiers they introduced + actually brand new, worthy games.

I started on April 2024 and here's my breakdown, I managed to get T4 last month mostly by keeping a Twitch tab open and completing the free steam quests and events

I also started in April and just reached 9 k not long ago.
I think the point system is a good concept, since it prevents people from taking all the codes, but the tier system in its current form is a nonsense and actually prevents legit users from accessing worthy titles (I had more than enough points to buy certain games when I rejoined, but I was tier 0, so I couldn't). These games usually appear on selling sites when the tier giveaways become available, which is no coincidence.

a fresh user gets around 1400-1500 arp per month with just starter artifacts
i joined in april for the teso giveaway, but began doing all the activities only around mid may, and i'm about to hit t5 in early january, so that's 9 months from start to finish

I'm currently getting more than 50 points almost every day, sometimes as high as 80 or 90. It's all about optimizing the artifacts, and I'm still not done upgrading them.
I think it took me a bit under a year to go from tier 1 to tier 5, but for the first month or two I didn't really get how artifacts worked not cared to look into it, if you start using them from the get go it's likely just 9 or 10 months to max out the tiers.
And no, I'm not from the US, I'm South American.
