You know, stuff like Shadowrun, Fable, Vampire Bloodlines, Bioshock, Borderlands, God Mode, Fear 3, Second Sight, The Darkness, Saints Row 4, Dishonored, E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy, etc... Can you recommend me any?

I've been playing Arcanum since it came out. Lots of Fallout 1 & 2 staff worked on it, which led me to buying Arcanum.

Always avoided that one because it looked too much like Baldur's Gate (hate that one). But reading the description it kinda of sounded more like Fallout/PS:Torment. I guess I might give it a try.

You can watch Chris Avellone play it on Obsidian's YouTube channel. It was sort of a stretch goal for Project Eternity.

Believe it or not, I never played Jericho. Gave the demo a try on Xbox 360 but disliked playing it. But I'm no good with analog stick aiming, so I dislike playing most of 'em. Will have to give it another try, but on PC this time.

Dishonored... >_> oops, missed that you mentioned it in your original post... Well, that was the first to my mind anyways :P

If you are looking for something a tad older, and more RPG-like, there are the Wild Arms games.

I'd say Terraria but it doesn't seem the kind of game you're looking for. You've already listed all the ones I can think of.

I actually like Terraria. But, yeah, I'm looking more for something were the shooting and casting is the pleasing part of the game.

Great game if you want something based on action action and action. Shoot things, them bash them, and kill a few more with powers while jumping wall to wall and shooting more things.

Don't really recommend open online play. Like a lot of games, it's full of elitist jerks who rush through levels and refuse to chat. If you have some friends to play with, it's great. Solo is a lot of fun, too.

Mass Effect. Beware the ending of the trilogy though, its insultingly bad.

Do biotic powers count as spells?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes.
Call it what you want, it's essentially magic.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Tech powers also function a lot like spells, even if the explanation is different. If Bioshock counts due to Plasmids (=genetic manipulation gives weird powers), Mass Effect can go on the list as well. Shadow Warrior remake would also count I guess

Elona+.

You can also use undies as a weapon.

Free rogue-like japanese stuff.

There are aliens too. And dragons. And motorbikes. And nuclear weapons. And talking swords. Stuff like that.

Here it is

download link

via the japanese wiki middle of the home page. You can use the auto translation if needed, once you install you will have the option to have it in english.

Oh also there are cool mutations. You can end up with half a dozen arms, two heads etc. Practical if you want to have a gun in one hand, a lighsaber ( yes ) in another, a grenade in yet another hand, and a pile driver as well.

As to the motorbike part, they are cool, but what about a tyrannosaurus instead ?

FF7. A few characters use guns and most can use spells.

Also, Shadow Warrior. Plenty of guns. Gorey sword action and the most powerful weapons except the nuke are spells.

Arcanum, I will also greatly recommend. There are others that I know of; but they are not Steam games and the probably would not run on newer WinBlows systems.

DnD.

Its not what youre really looking for but the variant I play (called pathfinder, or sometimes dnd 3.75) has gunslingers and obviously spellcasters.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Pathfinder isn't really a variant of DnD though, and the gunslingers and spellcasters are, at least initially, separate.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Pathfinder is a variant of DnD. Its just a mildly different rule set.

And Im aware of this, im just saying the option exists for both. And wizards can totally get guns eventually.

Force powers count right? How about the KOTOR series?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm more inclined to the "ballistic" side of guns.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, technically, any sniper rifles and shotguns you find in KotOR are actually semi-ballistic. They use a small metal core inside each round to stabilise the shot. Does that help? :P

You might want to look at mods as well.

Mount And Blade has mods that add magic and guns for example. Skyrim has guns too via mods ( and enhanced magic ). Etc.
