Mine is Tales of Berseria, I love the visuals combined with the story and song.
If you can, link the opening :P

Yeah, Alundra did have a good opening. It made me disappointed when I made it to the end only to realize that the ending was just the same clips without the awesome music.

I still say that Rage has one of the single best. The music in and of itself ALWAYS brings a tear to my eye. And a chill to me at the same time.

Battleblock Theater has wonderful cutscenes and the opening is no exception.

EDIT: Also, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Bioshock yet.

Ohh man, BBT soundtrack is just so amazing, with its full songs and cheeky narrator and all. 😊

it's not just the cinematic but the music that's usually awesome in these intros ❤️️
some intros start after the game prologue, but it's the same thing

deus ex
dx: human revolution
dx: mankind divided
supreme commander

since everyone posted some fallout games, here's another 😁
fallout tactics

and an (interactive?) intro 🌈
castlevania: symphony of the night

People skip the intros?? That's like skipping the first 10 pages of a book

I guess we were seeing (and thinking about) different intros - really only prologue-likes came to my mind, not the ones that grab possibly important story pieces from the later parts.

Not exactly, the openings are more like the summery of a book. Intros might refer to something different, but openings in anime and games (like the one listed above) spoil half of the stuff while not actually being part of the book itself. Keep in mind this opening tells us the protagonists you'll be playing as, of which we're only supposed to know one member (Velvet), the setting of the first 2 hours of the game, a few plot points and the entire main antagonist cast, and even who might have beef with who, and a major event. They aren't skipping 10 pages, they're skipping a link that explains half the book hidden on the 12th page.

Im not so sure about that.
I watched your link, well, with one eye :P but it didnt tell me anything like that. Just random dudes and dudettes jumping around on my screen. You know all of that cause you already played the game but for new players its nothing like that, just some flashy images with music to build up the hype.

Except when I watched it, I didn't even know anyone in the cast. However, it told me of an event that'll happen in the future
(Spoiler)

(The fact that one of the party members would either be hostile to the MC or betray the MC)
and all the main enemies, of which at that point, you didn't know any. I had no knowledge of these events beforehand, but after watching it I had suspicions and new knowledge, so some of the possible twists or reveals were completely lost on me.
Oh, also the ship. That wasn't shown. Also, did I mention this opening played before you made a game, at the start up? It's like a trailer, while the first 10 pages of a book are just that: the first 10 pages. Most stories don't use the first 10 pages to foretell what'll happen in the next 200 pages

Onimusha 3 is one of my favorite. It's a super long cinematic of battle and for a game of 2004 it was (and still is) amazing, enjoy!

Fallout series has good intros, they are great for grabbing you and bringing you in, also Ron Perlman is amazing.

I've always felt like Mass Effect and Bioware games in general have great playable intros.

Vandal Hearts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qThh8IfAYZc
Just a simple little song that plays at the very beginning, it only lasts for several seconds, but I still remember it clearly after all these years. Vandal Hearts was one of my favorite games of PS1 era, each time I started this game I listened to this little song and I knew that I'm about to have a damn great time. You can say this little tune is a symbol of my gaming childhood. It actually brings tears to my eyes just listening to it now.
