People are diferent so life is not boring :)
I felt emotional with the ending of Half-Life 2 Episode 2 (omg), Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock Infinite.
While i was playing FALLOUT 3, alot of emotions with the world, Megaton, the 2 headed cows, the guy prayed the nuke and the overall feel of the game was a drama for me.

The Banner Saga, A Bird Story, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, Papo & Yo, Pretentious Game, Spec Ops: The Line, Thomas Was Alone, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, The Walking Dead Season One, and Season Two. Those are all of the games I've beaten that I would classify as rather emotional.

The Last of Us, and it gets you right from the start. The Walking Dead (Clem!). Gone Home really got me, especially since it's so close to home. Ico - a masterclass in how gameplay can establish an emotional connection with an npc. Silent Hill 2 was fairly devastating.
An odd one now - I remember playing Grandia 2, and there's this part where some random npc's daughter dies, and the demon-girl lies to her and says her daughter is now this flower, and the camera cuts straight to it. It was just so unexpected, and the way it was done, I just burst in to tears, lol.

As I've already mentioned earlier in this thread, Gone Home, To The Moon, Journey and The Last Of Us are big tear-jerkers for me, also, Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 ending had me weeping, and I'm not ashamed to admit that the Evil Ending to inFAMOUS 2 was near-impossible for me to do...it took a LOT of nerve to make those shots, and I just couldn't bring myself to watch it happen I was crying so much...
The Moon Sliver is another one...but not in a teary-emotional way, more in the way that it really drew me into the suspense and apprehension of the story...
And one I feel is often overlooked because of the success of Journey, is Flower...such a beautiful game...and that 5th Dream, especially after the first 4, actually had me feeling more than a little scared, vulnerable, and alone :(

Haven't played it but this game looks emotional. Saw it on front page of steamstore
Personally, I am finding Endless Space with friends kind of emotional.

The Cat Lady, for sure. And its one of the best games I've ever played, ever.

The emotions I feel while playing The Cat Lady makes it difficult to play actually. Its a very heavy game emotionally, and I think part of it is the music, especially in the hospital scene.

The atmosphere in the game is great. Even the aspects of the game that would normally count as a negative point in any other game, they seemed to 'fit' somehow. The music, lighting, resolution, voice acting, animation, it all worked great together, even if at a first glance someone could easily be forgiven for noticing a lack of polish.
I'm just glad I got the golden ending. A bittersweet ending would have snapped my frayed heartstrings, and a bad ending would have been too much, haha. Damn. That game <3

Its so great find so many people that liked this game. And one thing I love is the feedback, its always overwhelming. Everybody who seems to have liked, not only have liked, but seems to have a special relationship with the game. :)

I noticed that too, which might explain for those who didn't particularly like it (or didn't feel it was worth pushing through the confusing opening scenes, which admittedly do feel a bit like a stonewall at first). Another of my favourite examples of 'games as art'.
Part of me would love it if the game could be remade to appeal to a broader audience, perhaps by upping the quality of voice-acting in some places, or allowing for more elaborate animations, but the other part of me found that even the hammier voices strangely fit, and the clumsier animations seemed to work within the scope of the game.
Normally I would replay a game like this to find all the alternate endings, but after getting the golden ending on my first playthrough (albeit by peeking at a guide once or twice), I didn't want to. That ending was 'my' ending, and I didn't want to pollute the experience with wobbly re-visits. Man. I bought that game for $1 through Indiegamestand. Thanks for reminding me of this, I think I'll buy some folks I know some copies of this, just to give the devs some love and spread the game around~
Man. Could you even imagine a Telltale remake of this? Perhaps not with the cellshade style they've been using, but something the looks more hand-painted like the original? They could seriously rake in the cash with that, along with the chance to revisit and polish some of the plot points.

I understand what you're saying. Most of the times, art is not perfect. That is why the most honest cds from bands its usually their first. Its when they're not famous, still having a hard life, and still have a lot of pain kept inside to write/sing about. Then a lot of them become famous and start to make emotionless music, with high-quality production but no spontaneity.
The graphics, the voice-acting, everything that shows that the game was made by a small team, with low resources but a great desire to do something amazing is something that makes this game even more special to me.
And I also never played again. I peeked at a guide for some puzzles where I was stuck for like hours, but didn't even knew there were different endings until after finishing and going to a forum to talk about the end and see people talk about different endings than mine. So I also feel like that was "my" ending (it was the second best one), because all I did was based on how I thought Susan and Mitzi would act, it was guided by the interpretation I had of their personalities, and that implies that they had a little of myself on them too.

I love it when a game gets you like that. Far too often we find ourselves in a situation where we aren't so much roleplaying, as we are 'gaming' an RPG. We see it in terms of probable outcomes, rewards and fun, instead of picking what we think the character would probably do. When a game gets you on a level that you're okay with a less than optimal outcome because it just fits better? Yeah, that's always a good sign. The was one of the reasons I liked the Telltale adventure games series, though I have to admit I would keep loading saved games when things didn't feel like they meshed properly (like I was the one actor in a good improv skit who was acting below-par).

If we talk about indies I think To the Moon and Always Sometimes Monsters would do.

If you mean crying: The Walking Dead - both seasons, particularly the intro of the second one.
If you mean scaring me: Doom 3 (only because of the spiders), FEAR, Dead Space
If you mean very sad: Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Dead Space 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/3, Remember Me

I just played To the Moon for the first time, and really loved it for the emotional story. What are your best emotional games?
Mine are To the Moon, and the Metal Gear Solid series, particularly 3, and 4.
