About a month ago I built my new PC and boi it was long overdue...

Been gaming on a 4670K / GTX 1060 for ~11 years so a new PC was really, really needed.

Here's hoping this one will last... well, just half as long and I'll still be a happy camper :)

And no! That OC was not stable enough to game on...

Congrats on the new rig! That must feel awesome coming from a 1060. And a 5070TI is probably the most sensible Nvidia choice at the higher end in this crazy GPU market.

Back in 2016 I paid around 335€ for the 1060 so ye, I really wish the prices on GPUs were still "normal" :(

That's great Nate! Big congrats on the new pc! Going from a 1060 to 5070 ti you're definitely going to notice a massive improvement, enjoy.

I hate to say it but 4 years ago I won 'Cyberpunk 2077' and I couldn't play it, well I could but only on low settings and that wasn't really playable/enjoyable.

I'm waiting for the Steam summer sale so I can pick up the dlc and finally play it. (fingers crossed it's cheap enough for the now poor Nate)

The good thing was I learned my lesson, don't enter for games your PC can't run.

Ah it all turned out well, so no sweat. CP2077 is a nice start for your new PC :)

That win gave you an excuse to upgrade though!
Enjoy the new tech!

I still have many wins to clean up from years of depression, League of Legends (unrelated?), and from having a way underpowered laptop that basically started getting more and more faulty and weaker. I ended up playing Metal Gear Rising I think 7 years after winning it... it was awesome, but I felt quite bad about it nevertheless. Nowadays I'm only battling choice paralysis, shame for old wins, the roughness of some of my wins, the length and heaviness of them :)

Heads up for Cyberpunk, if you want to take pictures in-game, you have to disable path tracing or your game will crash

Boop, gratz on the new rig.

I don't look forward to my next update... will go for a full upgrade including the case... also means clearing the desk so its on top and not on the floor.

I bought this case.
My only worry so far is... how long will the front panel "last", being pulled off every time I have to clean the dust filter.

I have a CM stormtrooper case... every time I need to clean it... its just a pain since its so heavy.

I don't look forward to case shopping... I need a blu-ray drive bay, I still use mine.

Ye, that's probably going to limit the selection of cases.
Maybe buy an external blu-ray drive?

Finding a modern case with drive bays that does not suck to build in and with decent thermals will be difficult. The Silverstone FLP02 (detailed coverage starts at 2:10) might be an option for you, if you don't mind the retro look.

Maybe check out Fractal Pop Silent or Define 7, both have space for 5.25" drive, there may be more, but those are the ones I've used for builds requiring an optical drive. They both have XL variants for bigger radiators if you go that way.

Congrats! I was looking to upgrade to a Prebuilt from Costco but they sold out. Any chance you have a pc partpicker list for what you built? It's been a while since I built one but it may be time! 5070 Ti Sounds awesome!

Too long, if you ask my "Steam helper" I did it over a few days and the absolutely worst / scariest part was flashing the BIOS.

Congrats on the new PC man! (And thanks for all the games), i'm hoping i can get one myself soon too, i spent around 8 years without a graphics card on my pc, just last year i got a used one gifted to me by a friend, but it's a GT1030, still, it's leagues away from what it was before that upgrade...
