In my opinion: no.
Bought the game some time ago, started playing it, was noting special. Played for an hour or so, it didn't attract me.
It's on Steam, but still needs Uplay. Ubisoft games on Steam don't show up in your 'normal' Uplay library, pretty confusing.
It doesn't work when Steam and Uplay are installed to another disk as Windows and your My Documents. It all needs to be one disk (it's on 3 different here), got that answer from their 'supoprt'.
Waste of money, like nearly all recent Ubisoft games.

What i got from your post is this: i hate Uplay so the game is a waste of money. Aren't you a bright one...
Also all recent Ubisoft games are a waste of money to you? I know opinions are subjective and all that, but to me Ubisoft's recent output of games is one of the best (Rayman Origins, AC series, Anno 2070, Far Cry 3), even better than Valve's recent output (i found Portal 2 less enjoyable than Portal 1, i don't even play DOTA and the new CS is shit). So yeah, subjective or not, your opinion is internet hyperbole.

I enjoy it, but I only payed $1 for it during the Ubi 1-day promotion. More than worth the $1. But I wouldn't buy it at $7.50 just because I have so many games backlogged already.
If I had no backlog and wanted a driving game, I'd definitely consider it.

I finished the game, it was heaps of fun. But it depends on what you want from a racing game. Just download the demo, play a little and get the feeling of the game, if you like it, buy it :).

Ive got some Uplay keys for Driver that Im trading. Gimme a message on steam and we can do a deal (for less than the Steam price).

I'm my opinion, DEFINATELY, I loved it. It's actually got a fun and well realized narrative, great gameplay mechanics, tight and fun driving handling, loads of gameplay and the characters and dialog is genuinely enjoyable. I also really dug the 80s cop-show vibe. I don't regret owning it for even a second.

It's not so much a 'racing game' as a driving game. I've got it (not on Steam) and it is very good, in my opinion. But then again I had, and really enjoyed the original Driver.
If you think you would enjoy driving around San Fran. pulling off unnecessary powerslides round any corner in whatever vehicle you happen to be in, jumping off the hills and generally dodging (or not) the traffic then yes buy it. I'm not joking about the powerslides either. The game is generous in when the cars loose the grip on a corner so you can turn in style, even in an articulated lorry.
If however, you are looking for a more 'sensible' 'proper-handling' racing game, I'd say no. Look else where (DiRT, NFS Shift (?), other racing 'sim'?)

It is nice, because of the cop missions. Though they get boring after a time.
The story is pretty impressive and not as straight forward as in other games.
What i did not like having played it thorugh (ca 30 hours) on U-play(got it for 1$ at U-play Summer Sale) is that there is no real money system in this game. And this game is either easy or hard, depending on the passages, but never really "normal"
I would buy it another time :)

To start of, I'm on a tight budget for the rest of the sale... 27€ to be exact. So I have to be careful with the rest of my buys. I remember the last racing game I really, really enjoyed was NFS: Underground 2 back in the day and no racing game was able to fill that void until today...
I've heard many great reviews for the new Driver game, but I'm still unsure about spending the 5er on it. Is it really worth the money for someone who doesn't really play racing games all that much or would I just waste my money ?
Tl;Dr : Should I buy the new Driver ?
