...and it sucks?
A few months ago I had a spending spree on GOG to revisit my youth, and honestly, some of the games sucked.
I don't know if it's because i'm used to better graphics and more in depth story lines, or just that I have an awful memory but I was disappointed.

Anyway:

That's sometimes the reason why I don't buy games I liked when I was a kid, preserving the memory or something. idk.

Nostalgia has been kind to me, returning to old favourites has yet to disappoint.

Yes! I do that often at times. A long while ago I played Titan Quest with my uncle, I was really young and then the THQ bundle came on after a few years, and it allowed me to revisit the nostalgia of the game.

So? 7 years is not long enough?

I think he reacts that way because hujman13 wrote "a long time ago" and "I was really young". Six years does not sound like that long ago. And when people think of nostalgia, they think of times long gone, many more years ago.

But hujman13 is probably younger than me, so six years weighs for him a lot more. And nostalgia does not necessarily means something from ages ago, so he is not wrong ^^

I suspected something like that ^^ Six years ago I was a adult, so for me and perhaps DonVino, that feels recent, but it is difference if you compare age 10 to age 16 :)

It sounds like you missed the point of the OP.

The only problem I have it when I find myself sucking at the games after years of not playing them. Like Ghouls 'N Ghosts.

It takes a bit of time to grasp the hang of it, but it comes back, took me a bit to get good at Donkey Kong Country again.

Nah, I'm pretty happy with my purchase of Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Classics. At least the games I wanted to play again. Some just suck, but they also sucked before.

When I was a kid I used to think that Commandos, Army Men, Revenant (...) were very hard games. When I replay-ed them a few years ago, I realised how easy they actualy were and I felt a bit disappointed as well.

Not that I can think of. Sometimes I get disappointed because I realize I've forgotten everything about it and am not good anymore.

But most of my nostalgia trips are 16-bit. Early 3D games are hard to go back to sometimes.

Yeah early 3D games can be...hard on the eyes and sometimes fall short control wise.

2D is always great for me though, still prefer it most of the time over 3D. I was just playing Scribblenauts and was like "Man this looks more pleasing to me then Crysis 3", then I felt slightly insane.

Yeah, 2D graphics are easier to look at, even if they are 20 years old. I prefer 2D to 3D too. It ages slower than 3D, and in my opinion looks nicer. Just look at Rayman Origins or Blazblue.
I hope they'll still be making 2D Castlevania and Metroid games.

I would love a new 2D Metroid, those games were amazing, much better then the 3D ones.

I've bought about 20 games on GOG pretty much only for nostalgia. Have I actually launched any of them? No.

GOG is king of nostalgia I've spent quite a bit of money there.

Bought Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 from GOG last winter. Turned out it was the first RCT I spent so many hours playing as a kid. Talk about bad memory. One of these days I'll buy the first one...

I frequently buy games, I remember from my youth. And more than half of the time I still have the original discs, and just want a drm-free one, or one pre-configured for the newer operating systems.

Yes i do, and i'm usually less disapointed in revisiting my old loved games than in playing official remade wich often sucks when compared to the 1st.

Not really. They don't suck. They are different. Yeah, different.
As long as I have nice memories of playing a game, it's okay even if it sucks. I'm not really disappointed. And they rarely suck.

I try not to re-buy games I previously bought, but I do pledge to a lot of Kickstarter projects due to nostalgia to previous games.

I would have to play them after buying them to be able to answer... :p
However I was not disappointed by the very few I actually tried.

I did get Raptor: Call of the Shadows 2010 on GOG sometime ago. It's still pretty rad, but it really isn't as immersive as I remembered it to be. Plus the remastered music somehow manages to be worse, I feel.
