I've decided I'm going to blacklist winners that don't thank after they win. That's just rude and lazy. It is practically the least you can do after winning a GA. There is no excuse for not doing so.

I know the feeling. "Why am I being ostracized without warning or recourse?" But that's life. That's the flip side of the freedom to associate: the freedom to disassociate for whatever reason one chooses. We in live in a strange time, when this and many other sensible ideas are being attacked by deranged social engineers and would-be tyrants. It might seem unfair, even primitive, but the freedom to discriminate is in its way a necessary function of a healthy society.
I got blacklisted by somebody for being... well... rather critical of people who say that voting in an election was a moral duty. But whatever. I'm an anarcho-capitalist, not afraid to admit it, and shouldn't be surprised when my angry rhetoric against the failures of democracy and the people who perpetuate them invites hostility. I rustled his jimmies, that's enough for me.
I got blacklisted by a person who saw me marked as received a GA I shouldn't have. He wasn't aware of the support debacle that eventually ended with a positive mark being okay'd. I contacted him, explained the situation, and he lifted the ban. He was a cool dude who was doing his part to enforce the rules of the site.
I got blacklisted by somebody for having a low gift/win ratio. This is actually quite sensible if his goal is to reward reciprocation and punish parasitism. In other words, he was contributing to the social commons, much like the previous guy.
I got blacklisted by somebody who just deleted my comment when I asked why I was blacklisted. I'm pretty sure they're just an asshole.
I probably just got myself on like, another dozen blacklists for writing this.

That's a misuse of ostracized. Ostracism is basically a 'soft exile' from a community.

Everybody ends up on a blacklist at some point if you are active enough, you shouldn't take it personnally. People blacklist for a variety of reason like wany said quite elaborately before, but if you know you haven't been rude to anyone and haven't broken the rules then you really shouldn't worry about it too much. They're so much users that two hardly make a difference... And then on the bright side the day you find yourself on someone whitelist, that always make my day a little better to know that some people thinks that I deserve to be on their list:)

Not sure why you were blacklisted. You have an average ratio, and thank when you win. Some people however do BL users who don't thank when entering(Also, some people BL if you DO thank when entering, and you sound like a bot or don't follow a set of instructions, like image posting or whatever)...So, I mean, there's "Reasons" you could have been, but I couldn't fathom a guess as to why it happened to you...likely there was a reason, it's just not evident.
Basically, if you read the GA descriptions, and you aren't rude to people on forums...odds are pretty low for you to be BlackListed. As far as I know I have only been blacklisted by a few people..and the reasoning for that is because I blacklisted them.

Yea, thanking after winning is something you should do(Unless the GA says otherwise)..I know I have blacklisted people who don't thank after winning...not all the time......most times I don't cause I'm lazy.....lol

I really only blacklist people for being notably unreasonable in pursuing conflict, for being bigots, or having extremely one-sided leeching ratios (eg 5:1 won:sent).
I've also blacklisted extremely entitled people who've clearly stated they don't think the rules apply to them, or that respect is unnecessary (I've been viciously cursed out before and had people outright demand games from me. o.O;).
I don't want to blacklist people for not thanking, since that makes the thank yous I DO get feel forced. I'd rather just enjoy the honest sentiment when it occurs :)
Well, what's beautiful about blacklists is, it lets you get your games exactly to the people with conduct that matches your own expectations. It's a filter for creating giveaways, nothing more or less. There's no inherent implications to it.
People insisting you compromise your outlook specifically for them, is an absurdly entitled thing.
It's not the "my friend didn't invite me to a birthday party" that people make it out to be, it's a "there's a birthday party down the block- I don't know any of the people there, but I'm going to go publicly yell at the people involved until they let me participate."

Poor phrasing. I only blacklist people with those ratios AFTER they've won a game from me, or otherwise done something questionable.
I don't have any problems giving any particular person a game, but past a single game, with that ratio, it feels like I'm being leeched off of intentionally :X
Besides, WAY too much trouble- and way past the 1000 person cap- to blacklist everyone with a bad ratio on SG :P

I got blacklisted by somebody who's currently on my whitelist. I don't understand why the blacklist, other than maybe because I won one of this person's giveaways and maybe his/her way of making sure I don't win again. Who knows? I try to be a good winner, I thanked for the win, and everything seemed cool when we chatted back and forth. I can only figure it's just something they do to make sure I don't win from them again.
Some reasons I have blacklisted - bad behavior in group giveaways, mean forum behavior imho, uncooperative winner (wouldn't friend me so I could send), a winner who'd won 80+ games and never gifted once, etc.

Yeah, there are plenty of jackasses who must get triggered over nothing. I mean, I received about 3-4 blacklists over the past month, and to the best of my knowledge, I have never been in a single argument with anyone on here (in fact, the one debate I DID end up being in, we actually whitelisted each other), always say thanks, always register fast, always give licenses fast, keep up with my ratio and GAs for private groups...heck, I have almost a 2:1 Give:receive ratio. I've given away hundreds of games in my first 5 months here...
...and yet 3-4 people blacklisted me for completely unknown reasons. Does it drive me a little crazy? Yeah, because it bugs me when people are random and don't make sense, but if you spend time being too caught up in it, you're stressing over nothing. The reality is that I give away a lot of games, and if someone blacklists me, they can't enter my GAs, either (a change made a couple of months back on SG), so they're just shooting themselves in the foot.
What I'm telling you is this: don't worry about it. The bad karma from people who act like douchebags will come back to bite them in the end. Just do the right thing, and all of the good people will still interact with you...chances are that you don't need the negativity and baggage from people who knee-jerk blacklist people in the first place.

I absolutely collect games. I don't have time to play them all, at least not right away. But I do so completely honestly, and give 2X more than I take. So, as far as I'm concerned, once I win a game, it's mine and I can do with it what I please, including sitting on it for a while. I will likely play it eventually. I extend that same courtesy to anyone else. It's great if they play it and love it. Or, if they just want to farm it for cards, that's cool, too. It's THEIR game at that point, and what they do with it is their business.
It's funny...I believe that the point of giving gifts is to give them freely. When I give a gift, I don't really expect anything in return. Oh, I think it's just good manners to say "thank you" when you receive something (at the very least), but I'm firmly aware that not every gift that I give every person will have the impact I intended or be valued to the degree that I'd hoped. But that doesn't stop me from continuing to give gifts. Because, every once in a while, there is that magic moment for someone where it's just the right gift at the right time, and the gift is deeply touching in some way, and it makes all of the other effort worth it.
Perfect example...I tend to put together big ziplocks of non-perishable food, along with some clean socks or a bandanna, and bottled water, and I carry a couple of these bags around in my truck. When I meet homeless people with signs asking for food, then I have something on hand to help them out. Most of the time, they're really grateful, thank me profusely, at which point I shake their hand and tell them to take care and "stay safe out there," which often has an amazing affect (it's like the handshake is more important than the food...just to be recognized and respected by another human being and not looked down upon). I don't know what people do with the food at that point...hopefully, they eat it, but they may feed it to a dog for all I know. Doesn't matter...it's theirs, and I gave it freely. Once in a while, people will outright refuse the food or take it and visibly throw it away because they were really just looking for money for other reasons. Good, indifferent, or bad, I'm not going to stop giving because at least some of the people need and want the help. One time, I bumped into a homeless guy at the gas station near my house, and I recognized him...he's often at the corner of a major intersection near me. He asked very politely for some food or money, offered to work for it in four or five ways that he was capable of (washing my truck, etc.). I didn't really need any help, but I asked him his story (which was long, but interesting), and although I don't normally hand out cash, because I recognized him and felt he was genuine, I said, "man, let me buy you a sandwich or something." I handed him ten bucks, and you'd think that I just paid off his mortgage for him. Guy broke down into tears and hugged me for like 90 seconds, thanking God, his Mom, hell, anyone who might be in the ether listening, and just said, "you have no idea how far this will go for me." He wanted to pay me back, and I told him not to worry about it. Now, I don't know what he did with the money. He may have gotten a really good meal out of it. He may have stretched it and made it buy 2-3 meals. He may have decided to just hang on to it for a while, maybe for when he really, really needed it. He may have bought a 40oz of Colt 45 or a crack rock. I don't know. The point is, that money was a gift. Once given, it was no longer mine. I certainly hope that he did something good with it, but telling someone what they have to do with a gift (or punishing them for not doing what you wanted with it) is not the point of giving it.
In any case, I hope that gives you some alternate perspective. At the end of the day, you don't have to change your mind...you can absolutely stick to your guns, and that's your right. But I hope that, instead, this exchange perhaps gives you the opportunity to consider that not everyone else's way of doing things is going to be your way of doing things, and that maybe making judgments and taking action on them without ever discussing the subject that was upsetting you for some reason is not the most effective way to operate, especially in a community that has at least some shared interests and goals.

thing is, some people here give away games so they get played, not to +1 libraries, so it's pretty obvious they will get angry when they see someone with lots of wins and all idled.
honestly, i expect people to play whatever they win from me, if not they should let me know they will idle it so i can delete the giveaways and spend that money on myself instead.
or just tell me "hey i will idle this win for 9 cents worth of cards, would you rather paypal me 10 cents and keep the game?"

Sure, that's a fair point. But I think this whole discussion has gotten WAY too far derailed. The thing is, I never nefariously collected a bunch of games with the intention of never playing them (ok, maybe a few of the $1 bundle trash titles, but come on...that's 75% of why those things get claimed, and I still have played quite a few of them, and I've given away dozens without checking what people do with them...and it's not important). Now, sometimes it may be a little while (or even a long while...I didn't play Syberia until two years after I bought it) before I play a game, even one that I paid for myself, but in general I absolutely intend to play it. But hey, I work a lot of hours (and often don't even have time for lunch), have family obligations, and am usually only able to mess with SG on weekends or late in the evening. I do what I can when I can. So, based upon my priorities, it means that I can't always fire up a game right away to make someone happy. There's zero malice in it. I certainly didn't think that I'd ever get judged for it. My only point earlier is that it seems strangely reactive to blacklist people (not just me, anyone) without understanding the situation first.
In any case, all of this came about because I was just trying to reassure the OP that they didn't have anything to worry about. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I should have warned them not to express themselves or have an opinion or color outside of the lines in any way because there's a large enough contingent of people who will overreact so for the love of God just stay quiet and keep your head down and tow the line and hold the course and...

On the bright side, apparently when you get blacklisted by someone it automatically applies in reverse, so you won't ever accidentally give a game away to someone who blacklisted you. I consider it a self-solving problem. If someone was petty enough to blacklist without a good reason, they're just setting up another tiny roadblock to potential giveaways.
It's a lot like the barbs thrown around anywhere else online, only more stealthy. Try not to see it as a black mark on you as a person.

Today I meet 2 person which blacklisted me. I don't even know why. I have 0 PPL on my blacklist. Is it possible to do in future option to check who blacklisted you at last. Cool what be if someone who blacklist other one would choose option from list and if I would see it. I know only about one my mistake long ago which was not in purpose. I don't like this situation as I am actively user and receiving/contacted winners or gifted very soon. Also make some giveaways too.
