Hello,

as the title pretty much says i kind of fucked up^^

Accidentally clicked on claim so the Key got revealed although the one I wanted to trade it to only takes revealed/gift link since I still have low rep.

Anybody had that problem before ? Can you somehow revert this/do something about this ?

Regards.

No way to revert. Gotta just have to find someone willing to grab it as revealed.

You can't revert it and don't try to contact HB as they will ban your account for being a trader.
You will just have to find another trader who will accept a key.

Also if a trader wants only a gift link, it means that the trader wants to trade the game again/resell it and that's IMHO kinda meh.

Is it really that bad ? First time I ever bought something there anyway and simply stated in the Mail that I actually wanted to gift it someone, dont see the harm ?

Apparently yes. There are several accounts here and on reddit of people having there account disabled due to alleged trading.

The issue with Humble gift links is that they can track both the sender and receiver. I guess if you either gift to a known trader or to many different people they will flag you a trader. They cannot do the same with keys.

Trading will absolutely get you banned, yeah. Close that ticket ASAP before anyone can look at it and try to make another account with a different payment card(?) as support can look at older tickets.

That would be logical, but Humble has turned evil ever since IGN bought them.

Edit: Legally, yes, you own the product and can do what you want with it, but Humble does not have to do business with you if they don't want to and they will lock your account if they want to.

I don't understand how they can lock people out of their accounts and deny them access to products they paid for. They should lock the account so no further purchases can be made, but they should legally have to provide you with the keys you already paid for. I feel like they would lose a lawsuit, but the issue is that we are dealing with small dollar amounts and it's not worth paying for a lawyer.

Even if they wanted to lock you out of your account completely, they should at least send an email stating that your account has been locked and provide a list of all the product keys that you purchased so you have access to the products you purchased and own. If you purchased a game and have not activated they key and they lock it away from you so you cannot view it, they have basically stolen it.

Edit: If this happens to me and the timeframe is within the allowed time to do a chargeback through my CC or Paypal (4 or 6 months), I will do a chargeback for the entire order and let them deal with trying to revoke the other used keys from the order. This is what everyone should do if their account is locked and they cannot access keys they paid for. If they want to be evil, we should do what we can to make it harder for them.

You won't want to do a chargeback if you traded or created giveaways with some of those keys though because they will get revoked from the people you gave them to. Unless you have a way to replace them.

I wish people in California would take them to small claims court. It only costs $30.

Yeah, it sounds like they are turning into a horrible company to deal with. They also don't assign you a key when you place the order, they wait until you reveal it. This means that if the key goes out of stock for some reason, they won't have one to give you. I would imagine they should get them back in stock, but if something happens with the dev and they can't get more keys, you won't get one.

I still buy games once in a while from them, but I don't ever generate gift links and if I am not going to activate a key right away, I always reveal it right after I place the order. It would probably be a good idea to copy any unused keys into a file as well just in case something happens and they decide to lock the account.

Kind of hard to find if you have low rep honestly^^

Just need to find the types that want the game for their own account and then go first.

Anyway, I wouldn't trade HB gift links at this point. Too many risks.

Not that hard... Everyone has a starting point...

You don't want to trade with resellers anyway. Trading gift links to them will eventually get your account banned, and they are actively contributing to the decline in bundle quality. How you ask? If publishers see their games being resold a lot, they will think again before they bundle their best games again.
