Me and my friend want to play together.
Both are using the new Steam version with opposing fronts.
We can join rest of the world but not each other.
Errors are like Connection timed out, Connection not accepted by host etc
Any one got any solution? Its not blocked via firewall or something.
We just cant play together as a private match.

Thanks for whoever tried to help, We managed to fix the problem.

My friend and I had a problem similar to yours with the new version. The invite friend feature from the game's friend list is totally broken.
Have you tried simply creating a game and having your friend join it from the game list (and not through invite from the game friend list or steam interface) ?

With my friend I ended up having to make a game with an easily recognizable name (usualy a keayboard smashed one like azeazezeazeazeazeazearazee) and have him join from the game list, and it works well that way.

I think it's an issue at his end rather than yours. Ask him to check his firewall.
