This is my suggestion, to make steamgifts to a nicer place :) Please excuse my bad english.

We already have the 100$ worth of games in account condition to register here, that already takes care of what you mentioned.

+1; I also do not understand OP properly; is he saying that users should have more than $10k on their steam account to join Steamgifts.

He means the level in your Steam profile; for example mine is 24.

100$ worth have the most of the bots and scammer, but steamlevel 10 only a few procents.

It's not hard to get 100$ to appear in sites like steamcalculator, but FAQ specifically states that it has to be 100$ of non-bundled games, which is harder to do. I admit that free weekend games may be a problem, though.

Steam level 10 can be achieved for under $4

A 6-7 level restriction would be a lot more appropriate, it's hard to get to level 10 without actively investing in games.

So glad I only won 29.

To get to level 10 you need a lot more than just a couple of games. Not to mention that it can be easily avoided by just crafting cheap badges

i think 6-7 is too low. the limit must be high enough so that it will unprofital bots use . I even think that 10 could be too deep

Is there an actual problem with fake accounts / scammers / bots on this site?

during random game free weekend, you can actually use "free weekend games" to bypass the 100$ barrier

Yeah but what I'm talking about are those dummy accounts that post "My friend's cousin's sister's neighbor's best friend's older daughter has a Ferrari with a golden skinned Neopet and gets get paid $7800 per hour from home and here's a totally-not-suspicious-at-all website that you must go to."

Well, they'd get insta banned, I guess. And it's not THAT easy to make a new $100 account, unlike the Disqus bots.

i think so i found a lot of bots entered my giveaways and i think its not fair for real guys.

Just report them then, they'll get investigated and if they are bots they'll get banned.

How do you know which are bots and which are actual humans?

So you are assuming.

Are you 100% positive these are just bots, and not people who simply use scripts to auto-enter (and possibly auto-thank) everywhere they can?

I'm only Steam level 7. I'll see myself out. Someone take control of the wheel.

Wow, you were not kidding. You are only level 7.

Nope, no thank you. Ain't nobody got time to level up.

Nah. I'm getting level 5-7 scam bots lately. Probably stolen accounts used for it. Yesterday got level 18 profile invite. And again it was a scam attempt. All things people propose - having $(insert amount of dollars here) worth of games on your account, or Steam account level 10+... This won't work. Scammers and bots will always find a way.

Permalink

If Pew is right, bot will find. And some people can't join steamgift only because of level of steam. We will lose more and bot will pass your required

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope. I have over 500 games and I would barely be eligible to register, just because I don't craft badges.

Well, clearly you're a scammer and a bot.

i think your idea will just get rid of steamgift community, not scammer or bot... average people don't give a shit about badges, since they are useless and they prefer put their money into games (for what i saw until now... or maybe that is just how people are around here ?). But people who make fake acc will just find some way to do cheap badge to have the level. Also the higher the level, the less the people "need" to win games since they have enough money to make a steam account to level 10 (and by that the money to level it up ?) there is also the fact that people who created load of steam account ages ago when steam was created, will already be near the level 10, while new steam users, whoever they are, will just be rejected.
Also, i got scammer invite in steam wich were level 12... either they stole the account, either they find a way to level up.

Well, all that to say : steam level only show the ego of their owner, nothing about being serious or not... (and personnaly i prefer trust people who think it is better to use their money to buy games than crafting badges...)
Using steam level into account is, on my personnal advice, as ridiculous as banning every person with the pseudo beggining by T or those who won nearly twice as more than they give.

An answer to your previous thread since i had no chance to post timely - enjoy:

http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/VF03d/lol

Is your imagination for possible reasons "why one would not gift anything back" that limited?
I wouldn't feel it'll be necessary for them to explain themselves nor having to defend them.
Giveaways are all fair game if the giving person allows it.

Not to mention you have yourself
a "barely acceptable SG profile" WIN-33/GIVE-17 Ratio - according to imaginary-hypocritical-GA-standards.
On top of that living in SWISS one of the richest countries on the god darn planet (as if that would mean anything)
but i think you were looking for an appropriate stupid answer to an appropriate stupid thread.

Have a nice day m8te, and consider beefing up your sg profile according to the "wealth"
of your country shown in steam - can't disgrace yourself like that can ya? lol

That's what I thought as well. The guy has over 1500 games and is level 74, so he's clearly not giving as much as he could afford to. It's better than giving nothing of course, but I found it pretty ironic that he created that kind of thread when he himself is not that generous.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Exactly ... i wouldn't consider myself generous on Giveaways - but thats not even the primarily reason i'm here (trades).
Always surprised when checking profiles like yours or that of others thinking: "well'p with that amount given the bub must
have easily over 1k games and thangs > nope just quite generous and likely not caring much about collecting/hoarding
every pointless game there is".

my ratio is $247.67 to $220.83, with nine active giveaways. "Do not trust any statistics you have not falsified yourself". Oder für dich :"Traue keiner Statistik, die du nicht selbst gefälscht hast.". Yeah! Rich countrys like USA with "45.7 million people are receiving food stamps" http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/05/12/benefits-food-stamps-fewer/27175881/ . Also in switzerland the money does not grow on trees and not everyone is a millinaire. But our mothers teach us to give back, if we get anything. And if people give you games in worth of 400$, you can give back at least one game for 5$. Even if you live in a poor country. Where people from poor countries , who have a game computer , can not be so poor. And a lol for you. LOL

Steamgifts lv 10

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, there's no reason to force people to level up their accounts and waste money on that process.
You level up your account mostly by crafting badges from cards and cards are actually free money. Also, some people don't have time or simply don't feel like trading cards to get the sets and prefer to sell them and get money for more games.
