I'm travelling to the UK till the end of July and I'm planning to buy games on Steam during the supposed Summer Sale. Is there any way to find out which games are region locked so I won't have any problem to get my games working when I'm back to South East Asia?

Valve's official policy is that you have to contact them when you go abroad, and they will unlock your home store for you, so regional restrictions should not bother you when you're back home. Be careful when purchasing Steam-redeemable retail copies, however - those can be region-restricted, which should be indicated on the game's packaging (unlikely in the case of the majority of games sold in the UK, though).

Doubt Steam support will be fast enough to cover the 1st or 2nd day of Summer Sale with most ppl guessing 11 july is the start of sale. I'll try send them the question anyway. I will only purchase digital copies on Steam so there should be no problem. Thanks for the reply! :)

You can't actually buy games from UK steam store BUT there is a way to access your own regions store abroad. Just use ?cc=REGIONCODE after the store url. So to access finnish steam store the url would be: http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=fi

Thanks for that! http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=my seems to be working fine for now :D Still gotta test the purchasing part when the sale is up though.

As far as I know, if you're in a different country to the one the store you're currently on serves, you'll get an error at checkout, or something

Guess I'll have to wait for Steam Support's reply which will probably take a real long time or I test it out myself when I'm in UK.

From the comments on your profile, I'm guessing you're Dutch, so then of course it would still work, since the Netherlands and France both use Euros :)

Just got the reply from Steam Support
"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
Unless otherwise stated on the storefront, you should be able to access any games you purchase."
:) Now waiting for a good deal..
