Hard to tell what the exact intentions are, but the first try is also a lot longer than 60 seconds and I never saw anyone complain about that. ^^
It's basically one guaranteed win per day (as long as it is open) and then you might get some more depending on if you have any malus reductions and depending on the minigame and your skill. Some people manage to get 3-5 keys a day.

The clock is 20% slower before you win, so you get 72 seconds to complete the challenge. After 1 win it's 10% faster than normal and after 2 wins it's 20% faster than normal. They changed it in early 2022 probably to spread the keys more out. (Making the first win easier, the rest harder.) Now it's trivial to win the first key while before it took some practice. On the other hand this made the difficulty jump after the first win quite extreme.
But it doesn't prevent multiple wins at all, just makes it harder. All the challenges are winnable with 5s malus, too. With 10s malus it's possible to win the archer one (but you need luck with which gates they emerge from), the watering one (but it's very-very hard, I've not been able to do it yet myself) and the hoeing one (it's quite easy even at 10s). At 15s the archers are only possible with a very lucky distribution, but the hoeing is still doable. I think the best of the best can even win hoeing at 20s malus. My personal best is winning it at 18s malus (when I had 3s malus per win).
So if you are moderably good you can expect to win 3 keys per day with 7s malus or 4 keys per day with 5s malus. (I do one giveaway per day on IG to get the malus reduced to 5s.)

second win is possible on Hoeing Challenge. sometimes its possible to beat archers and stones.

Rules:
Default time for each challenge is 60 seconds, every key won gives 10 malus (-10 seconds penalty), which can reduced:
Starting malus multiplier = 10 malus (seconds)
also it is possible to lower malus by paying 50 silver coins for per second.
Challenge types and Targets:
Chopping: You need to chope 8 trees in time to beat it.
Sickling: You need to cut 60 grass with your sickle to beat it.
Mining: Mine 14 rocks with your pickaxe to beat it.
Watering: Water 16 plans to win.
Fighting: Kill 9 archers to win.
Picking: Pick 40 saplings to win. ( watch out for the spiky ones that slow you down )
Hoeing: hoe 60 clods to win.
Prizes
Each time, you complete a challenge, you'll get random steam key (from indie to AAA)
If you fail to complete a challenge, you still have a chance to get store credit instead ($0,01-$0,04)
