Just wondering which graphics card company is the most popular with Steam Gifts users!

EDIT: Nvidia is the clear winner. If I were to buy a Nvidia card which one should I get and where should I get it. I'm in the UK.

AMD. Period.
Best visual quality. Good pricing. Besides - I am for paying to AMD, so that they will continue making good hardware and be a competition for Intel.

That shows how much you know as AMD's GPUs are very good and easily compete with NVIDIA's offerings.

I, personally, don't have any preference but it comes down to your budget and what you're after in terms of which is best for you. Many like to choose NVIDIA's GPUs due to CUDA and Physx but for many people they aren't going to be used or be used as much as would be worthwhile. A good place to compare graphics cards is Anandtech and to buy I'd say CCL Computers.

You know, it is funny: It used to be a sense of pride to own an AMD CPU and ATi GPU (especially since they outperformed their P4 counter-parts every time - even at lower clock speeds and the FX series of GPUs from NVIDIA were utterly horrendous). Saying they're for "poor people" is rather distasteful in my opinion. The coin has obviously flipped, but I still don't see how AMD products are "for poor people".

On that note, I would still get an Intel CPU + NVIDIA GPU. One, higher performance from an Intel CPU (plus greater compatibility. My primary audio software does not play well with AMD CPUs). Two, Catalyst drivers suck. Period.

I was using nVidia until their 8800GT model, started with nVidia Riva TNT 2. Now I'm using AMD 5770. No problems with both manufacturers.

Just get whatever gives you more performance while keeping the cost to a minimum. Both nvidia and amd have had their share of problems with drivers. Don't buy something just because it's "nvidia" or "amd", just get the best buy for your budget. Though i recommend staying away from certain manufacturers like palit or vtx 3d.
