  1. Don't ask about blacklists....
  2. Don't ask why you aren't winning...
  3. Dunno... I don't know anything about anything ;D

I think you are doing pretty good :)

Say Thank You when you win something, forum community is kinda cool -> especially the puzzle section; don't care about blacklists ;)

I'm with Ekaros on advice and don't enter polemic discussions if you fear blacklists. XD

Welcome to Steamgifts!
May your stay be pleasant and filled with fun games :)

Advise:

  1. Always thank the giveaway creator when you win something.
  2. Play your wins. Many users giveaway games in hopes the winner will enjoy them.
  3. Giving away games that have not been bundled will raise your level much faster then bundled ones.
  4. Check the Community Wishlist for some ideas what people want to win.

Solved. I can't believe it took me a while to realize what the third ? was asking.

Welcome to Steamgifts btw.
For the most part, people are pretty nice to listen to here - just don't talk about anything Ekaros and GarionPR already covered.

I guess I could say this much for a few pieces of advice:

  • For specific giveaway titles you want, use the search bar on leftside of the giveaway page and search for a game.
  • Sync your Steam account regularly to cut down on giveaways you already have.
  • If you want to hide giveaways of a certain title from yourself, toggle the eye icon next to the giveaway title. This is useful for cutting down on titles you're not interested in, and as well as preventing you from accidentally getting another copy of a game you already own, as any games Steam has taken down from the store will still show up on Steamgift giveaways, regardless of whether your own Steam account has a copy of that game or not.
  • I recommend assigning steam keys to your giveaway winners after they win, rather than the site automatically doing it. This is so you can do a little investigating into their user page. This isn't necessarily to be creepy; this is just to know if the person who won has been regifting games they won, which not only goes against SteamGifts' guidelines but it's generally just a dick move. This sort of stuff can potentially go unnoticed for a good while at the lower contributor levels.

EDIT: Sorry for the boatload of text here, I like getting into it when there's something to explain.

I'm kinda new here and have a question about your last piece of advice:
Regarding "I recommend assigning steam keys to your giveaway winners after they win, rather than the site automatically doing it.": I've never seen a setting that allows site to automatically send a key. Whenever I have done a giveaway, I am directed to the giveaway page, and I have to click the Send Key link before it is actually Sent. Or is what I see not how it actually works?

If there are 50 or more copies in one giveaway it sends them out automatically if they were assigned before the ending of the giveaway.

Oh sure multi-key/gift givaways will do it automatically. I'll definitely avoid making those.

  • ESGST. Just search the Discussions (I believe it's one of, if not the most popular thread there). If you haven't installed it by now then I suggest you take a look at that script/extension. It might look a bit overwhelming at first (perhaps less so for a linux user) but if you're looking at getting more out of this site than this is one of the keys IMHO.
  • Lurk the forum/discussions. It's all there as you should well know by now if you've already created a puzzle train ;)

Welcome.

FIlter games on both sites to only show games available to Linux, that'd be my advice.
No fun finding an awesome game just to find that you can't run it on your system.
Also, welcome to SG.

Hello to you :)
i try to remember just one thing.
There are these generous people who are giving me a chance to win free games, and that if i can in anyway would like to return with a token of appreciation.

Um, buy / enter only games you intend to play shortly?

It's hard to give advice without knowing what you want to get out of the experience, but really IMO the problem with Steam (/ bundle sites) / SG is that you end up spending a lot of time on the meta game instead of playing actual games. If that's what you want, go ahead. If not, beware of ending up a miserable husk of a gamer like me.

Groups worth mentioning:

Unlucky-7, a group for those who won fewer than 8 games.
Playing Appreciated for people who promise to play a won game within a month.

Ah ah ! Yes I will try to not spend too much time on meta game, It is a a huge temptation, but I already have a lot of good game to play, I think I will only play some of jigidi puzzle :)

Welcome to SG!

For me the three main points are:

  1. Do NOT do trading or begging on this site. Its a definite NoNo and will probably result in either getting blacklisted or suspended or banned.
  2. Do not panic if you have not won a game after a few hundred entries. If you do, its a BIG bonus. To increase your chance of winning, you can enter forum giveaways or if you meet the requirements to join groups (Unlucky 7) as well as making giveaways which are not free games (see previous comments.
  3. Follow what the SG moderators ask you to do. They are helpful and friendly but are not afraid to use the Banhammer if you do something silly.

Other people have mentioned pages that you should read (see above igel2005) to get a better understanding of what this site is about.
This is a general point but try to enjoy your time on the site and don't worry if you cannot make loads of giveaways.
Lots of people on this site genuinely enjoy gifting and you should try to too.

Hope this helps and have fun on this site over 2019 :-)

What are "forum giveaways"? Is that a different from group giveaways?

Forum giveaways are ones you can only really find in the discussion pages/forum. (see current examples below)

https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/DrsJt/youre-not-alone-3/
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/uDK0r/so-i-missed-my-cake-day-this-year-ends-tomorrowlvl-2
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/30Ajv/giveaways-for-peace-updated-january-8-open-gas-7
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/6QZpS/its-my-first-cake-day

They tend to have lower number of entries and increase your chance of winning compared to public giveaways.

Oh boy, that must keep the General forum full and busy! Does anyone ever post invite only links like that to Puzzles, and but where a puzzle solution must be used to get the URL?

Yep.

https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/mhzka/jigidi-lvl-2-monthly-little-train-ended-see-u-next-month

DrTenma tends to make a little train of giveaways for solving the puzzles every month or so.

Looks of stuff like this are available. Just need to do a little bit of work on the discussion forums and you can find them. There is also a puzzle subsection in the discussion forum if you are interested. ( https://www.steamgifts.com/discussions/puzzles)

my last won game was 2 years ago and a few months (i stopped using my points when i hit 2 years without win nothing) if you are here for win games, you are in a wrong site xD.

if you are here because almost all people are good and will help you with your questions you are in one of the best site in internet.
