How can people be thankful to this?

Oh, thanks for raping my 60 points, I'm clearly too lazy to read descriptions and the first comments. I'm so used to leech that I must leech everything I see, even fake giveaways!

Seriously, why so many entries and "thanks" comments if this giveaway is clearly fake? Not that I give a fuck, it's their points that are being wasted. But how can they be so dumb to the point they are 'grateful' for being trolled?

ya. there is 2 possible outcomes to this.

  1. guy sends beta. winner is like "wtf?" marks as not recieved

  2. guy sends beta. guy marks as recieved. (this one really pisses me off since the giver will get $60 in contribution for a beta)

There are two possible solutions.

  1. Step up moderation.

  2. Allow betas and credit a reasonable amount of contribution for it. I don't know how scarce a Steam Community Beta is or why anyone would want it, though.

Only 100k beta gifts/codes were sent out. So they're pretty rare. They let you preview the new Steam community updates and stuff.

You realize that you're assuming everyone can read and understand english, right? Maybe most of the thankers only know a few words in english, "thanks" being one of them, so they don't realize that the guy's giving a bogus giveaway.

I have been using the Firefox plugin to enter giveaways lately. If you do quick look it just pops a window with a comment box where most people type thank you and press comment and enter. I bet that is how most people are entering without even reading comments.
