Best solution ever.
Just toss your current HDD out of the window and get anew one.
If that's not what you are looking for, deinstall all unwanted programms then use "CCLeaner" or "TuneUp Utillities" and cleanup your regestry and defrag your HardDrives.
Everything else is up to you. Maybe an autostart wipethrough afterwards...

Can't really comment you on that, it depends on each and every person what files are important. Maybe some like to store txt files, maybe some excel files.
Maybe you want to save some movies/music so try searching avi/mp4/mkv/mov/wmv/mpeg/flv/mp3/ac3/aac/flac/ogg/srt/sub/ssa
maybe some essay/presentations would be important, .doc/docx/ppt/pptx/pdf

Already done it the "old" fashioned way, I usually keep a folder with a single letter (in this very case the letter "a" and then i make sub-folders in there so i know what i have installed and whatnot. Other than that i have to go through the windows.old folder and the downloads folder. Thanks for the advice though :)

I understand your problem here and I have the same over here - I'd love to reformat mine and do a fresh install but then I worry about losing files that I might have wanted to keep - however, other than the old fashioned windows explorer, I don't have any advise to offer >_<

Something from this list? Maybe? I've never had to do it, personally. They mostly all seem like they would work.

Don't save files you want to keep in random locations and you wont have this problem :p
(very helpful, I know!)
Documents, desktop, favorites.
And maybe look inhere: C:UsersDefaultAppDataLocalVirtualStore
I can't make back-slashes, so figure it out yourself :/

Taking care of your file structure / placement is something that should be thought out and planned carefully beforehand. For example, I have only 1 hard drive (for now, at least), and it's separated into 3 partitions like this:
500GB total (465GB usable)
345GB for Windows, Programs, Games, etc.
20GB for Music, Pictures, saved game files, config files, and notes
100GB for downloaded programs that I want to keep "forever"
Everything is organized into it's respective directory hierarchy.
As far as getting everything you want to keep quickly or easily, I'm not sure. When you get everything you want backed up, format, and partition your drive in a logical manner that makes sense to you.

No. i am not looking to clean dust from my computers exo-skeleton insides.
However i am looking for a fast way where i can perferbly see everything that is on the harddrive and if i wish to delete said files or not. Because i am planning to format the computer but i have quite a spongey drive and it's filled to the brim. But before i format it, i want to see what i have on it, and save any possible things i have forgotten.
So do you have any tips on programs/fast ways to do it?
I'm currently going through folder>folder>folder to check if there is anything in there that i might want to save, but it takes up quite some time to work through 1TB of files for that and it's not efficient to do so.
Please help me? <3
XOXO nzl
