"Who wants some?"
Hail to the king, baby. But i really expected Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour to be a mod or some sort of DLC for Duke Nukem 3D. That price is way too big IMHO but still hyped.
Edit: And only 1 episode? still lots of good stuff like the original voice of Duke returning with new lines :D

Hey, one is better than none. I've already got the some hundreds of mods and maps. D. N. 3D still ranks near the top of the list in terms of level design and also something that seems to be missing for me in some modern games: fun and laughs.
For sure, it's too pricey at twenty bucks.

It might sound ridiculous but making old engines work properly on current hardware might be actually very hard in some cases, and you can't really improve anything even with decent developers, because your codebase is 20 years old. You'd need to rewrite everything from scratch, and that is not only super-hard, requiring time and budget, it also destroys whole concept of resurrecting "old good duke".
I don't know if they're going to base on the same old engine, but judging from the screenshots they will, and it's very likely that small misc enhancements such as bumping up max resolution to nowadays standards can result in awful performance, mostly due to the fact that 20 years ago nobody thought of such thing even being possible. Plus they probably want to slightly bump up those requirements to ensure that the game will run nice, and they don't have a good budget for that production either.
I wouldn't judge them, working with such old engine on purpose is a bit different story than e.g. Bethesda's optimization disaster used in Fallout 4. I'd actually appreciate the fact that they tested it and came to conclusion what is required, instead of putting requirements from duke nukem 3d because it's the same thing with different maps.

I'd rather them stop milking a dead horse as cheaply as possible.
Maybe I'm just cranky today.

I already have two Duke Nukem 3D entries in my library. Without a high discount of at least 80% (or better yet, free for owners of the previous releases, very unlikely though), I see no reason to add it to my collection yet again.

Unfortunately, that alone isn't enough to sell me on blowing NZ$24 on a few levels. I got plenty of Duke 3D already. Even got the CD still.
It also looks like this is a downgrade in terms of content compared to Megaton. I can hope that lack of mention about the expansion campaigns doesn't man they aren't included, but it seems likely that this is just Atomic with a bonus episode.
Now, if this was a definitive version with Urea 51, Plug 'N' Pray, the PC expansions, maybe the 64 exclusive weapons, etc, then all those dollars might be worth it. This, not so much.

For fuck's sake, Duke Nukem 3D Redux wasn't enough? ANOTHER remaster? They can't make a good fucking DN game so they keep milking this cash cow? How pathetic.

It is. When I finally dish out a couple bucks to buy it on a sale or bundle in some several months/years, I'll feel the fool.
I mean, who would want to kick some cash to Blum and Gray and encourage them to make more levels. It's not like they're any good at it.

The previous 3D releases were from 3D Realms, this is the first to be released by Gearbox (and the only one available on Steam with the removal of the 3D Realms releases). Sadly, it seems to be inferior in terms of content. A new episode, sure, but based on the Atomic Edition so no expansions. Along with a higher price tag, it might have trouble selling to most fans.

Yeah but most devs these days just grant the owners of previous game/verion of the game the update for free or at least they provide huge discount (like -85% off Hard Reset Redux). This here 20$ for what? For basically Redux with a few new maps, a few new tracks and a few new sentences? It's a joke. Riding the money wave on the classic. Hell, 10$ and I'd have new Shadow Warrior. Meh.

Most devs also got paid for the previous version, which is what I'm pointing out. I don't like the price and lack of content myself, but I understand why a discount or free copy isn't being offered by Gearbox.

19.99 euro for Duke without (Duke it out in D.C. , Life's a Beach , Nuclear Winter ) which were include in Megaton Edition :)
I would not be surprised if they put them in DLC for this ANOTHER AMAZING EDITION OF DUKE NUKEM 3D :) Just Gearbox things. For me pass till -80/90% or even bundle that cost 1$.

yeah, that's about right.
The original game is great, and I wouldn't mind playing it remastered. But that's overkill, and we know Gearbox has a penchant for deep discounts (eventually). Hell, my guess is it'll be part of a humble monthly some time in 2017. I can wait
