You don't understand the reason for consoles if you think an interface is enough reason to get rid of them.
They are for ease of use. Plug them in, insert the game (if a physical copy), and play them. No worries about if your hardware can run them between specs and possible conflicts. PCs being what they are will never be able to do that. A PC can use any part you want, which is great, but it does mean that the PC will never have that ease of use where you buy the game and know it runs, no matter what. Every model of a console tends to be the same.
Both have their advantages of course, beyond what I typed above, I'm just pointing out why PCs shouldn't replace consoles anytime soon.

Oh, look, trolling.
I play GAMES. Not pictures. If I know what I'm looking at, they're good enough for me.
I'm going to assume the changing every two years for $2000 is a poke at the console gamers who believe that about PC gaming, and at lead makes me hopeful you aren't serious.

Trolling? Im just talking about graphics. Im interested most in game too, but think; try to play games with the same technology for 5-6 years.
Other thought: most of games u can't run from old console, so u must wait for HD edition. On PC u can play everything what u want.
And remember; graphics its still a part of game. I want to watch it better, not the same every time.

I consider it trolling, because the console graphics are fine. Playing something in 1920*1080 or whatever else you use doesn't make a game better, just prettier. I still know what I'm doing in the console games.
As for playing on PC, you can only play what you can run. That isn't always everything you want. Some people won't be able to run current PC games on their systems. A console runs every game made for it. If it was made for the system, it runs. System uniformity is an advantage for consoles, while PCs have the advantage of customization. Both are also a disadvantage, since not all PCs will run the same games, even with similar hardware (because you can get conflicts cause by some hardware), while consoles don't have the upgrade option.

I never said one is better than the other. I play games, not systems. I'm just pointing out why a PC isn't a replacement for consoles, even with the new Steam interface.

Software gets new features added all the time, not everybody uses every new feature. This is no different than automatic updates from your web browser either... 80MB is nothing to scoff at really, unless maybe you're running it on a 16GB SDD ;)

I like it, it's good that you can see in the library which games support gamepads and it's also nice that Big Picture automatically changes the main monitor when you run it. The browser is also great and good to use with the controller when you are away from the PC. The performance could be better but it's still one of the best features Steam now has.

So I just hooked up my laptop to my tv and turned on Big Picture and using it with my controller it feels like im using a console and the interface is so good allot better than psn tbh.. If only all the good console games would be made for pc there would not be any need for a console at all!
