While I do think that not every trend directly benefits the industry / at least me as a gamer and there are horrible business practises, I'm kind of fine with it. (Loot boxes are mostly shit because random, not even a proper buy-what-you-want system, and gambling never will be a concept that I think we should support in such a widely accepted way)
Yet if someone as an adult want to pay 30, or even 200$ on useless skins, or random microtransactions... they can do that! Others buy nice books that they never read, ugly ornaments that they find nice, or just some random shit that was cheap(er) but will be thrown into the lowest depths of the garage. Everyone has their own stupid ways to waste their money, according to others' standards.

It pains me when I see some games that I bought and never really played them( didnt grab or wasnt in the mood) while other games I replay every now and then ( recently finished 4th playthrough of Alpha Protocol and 5th plathrough of ME OT for example) .
Also cs:go skins are either for wearing or trading.. or betting ... or waiting to sell for profit - they have their uses alright.

Also just so you know it, if you buy xp boost, DLC weapons that are better than vanilla ones, play on easy mode, look up guides, ask anything about the game on the internet or on reality you're a horrible person because if you already bought the game you should never make the gameplay shorterskip the game. Yeah, I completely agree actually! And I don't think that worrying too much about how you're wasting money makes things better, you're pretty much still gonna waste it, you'll just feel bad about doing so. Buying only essential things would make you a... pretty boring person, to be honest.

Do I have an extensive backlog? yeah. Do I wish I had time to play all them? yeah. Will I play all them? not likely. Simply put: I play what I want when I want. I don't think about it oh I paid x so I have to get y hours out of it. I see too many posts "oooh my backlog I have to play all them". To me that is a silly mindset and takes the fun out of playing games. I have a few games of each genre installed and play what I am in the mood to play.

More relevant, I'm in a real bad slump rn, can't stop thinking how much I hate everyone, and thinking about shitty people who pretended to be my friend, I just want an actual person please. But I don't think that searching through a bunch of shitty people or people who don't wanna be my friend is worth the possibility of meeting a good person who actually wants to spend time with me.
And tommorow I have my bimonthly psychologist appointment, hopefully it ain't cancelled like all the rest. Although, I doubt it'll be that helpful, but venting can be so I'm hopeful.

Once you find one really good one, you might realize it is worth it. Go at your own pace, a comfortable pace, and don't force it, and you'll find friends, maybe even that one really good one that changes your mind about all the effort involved. The best way to make friends, I've found, is to work on yourself, but it sounds like that's what you want to do anyway - and that's a really good start.

To be fair (and sorry for stepping randomly in the middle of a conversation), same goes with people. I personally don't have too many friends (around 5), but I don't want any more. It's also not healthy for some people to have too many friends based on what they do. If you devote a lot of time to being with them, then you need to most likely have fewer friends while the opposite types should have more friends to accommodate the small amount you spend with each of them.
But as to the "I still think the amount of bad people ain't worth the good", I can understand. People can suck. Sometimes you just get a bad draw and you'll be surrounded by people that you won't really click with anyone. I personally got lucky and found people that I did luck out with. I mean, I had to accommodate to them a bit, but that's obvious when you meet someone.
Also, the chocolate thing is funny. If someone finds it racist, then there's a problem with them, not you.
