FarCry 3 is one of those games...

that doesnt like it when you overclock your gpu.

it runs fine if i leave the gpu at default clock settings, but if i overclock it at all, the game crashes every 5-10 minutes.

also, anyone know how to manually disable DOF and AO? i dont see an option anywhere in the menu.

That means your OC isn't 100% stable. Simple as that.

if i oc by 1mhz it still crashes like that. if i underclock it crashes.

only default clocks are stable, and its specific to this game.

i run 1100/1200 (1000/1100 default) on a hd7770 and its perfectly stable in any other games.

Damn, that's awkward.
What if you edit your graphical card bios (fixed OC in bios)?
For nVidia there is a tool called NiBiTor, for ATI/AMD the tool is called RBE.

Edit: Pretty advanced though. Know what you're doing.

So don't overclock your GPU then. There are plenty of in game options for boosting performance.

As for disabling DOF and AO, check out this tweak guide.
