Hi there guys! i wonder buy the new life is strange, but i wanna more info about the additional chapter: "Farewell". The devs says:"This stand-alone bonus episode, will release after episode 3, and is only available as part of the Deluxe Edition of Life is Strange: Before the Storm."

Ok, so i ask: The Deluxe edition expires? or can i buy it after the game are release?

and just for debate: what do u expect about the game? only 3 chapters are enough? u trust on the new devs? how chloe can rewind on time if she have no powers?

Thanks for the info guys.

Its episodic. So you wont be able to play it until its released. There is usally 1 month apart from the episode releases I would guess if they do the same as Telltale. It wont expire.

So i can buy the deluxe edition when i want? including when they release for example the chapter 2? They do not remove it and left only the season pass?

Thanks for the reply dude

You should be able to buy the Deluxe Edition to yourself whenever you want.

The Deluxe Edition is essentially a bundle of the base game + Life is Strange: Before the Storm DLC - Deluxe Upgrade, and there is no season pass for the game.

I'm not sure there will be a rewind power? Probably just play more like telltale with decisions progressing the story along. As for deluxe edition: you can get it from greenmangaming for about €18 at the minute with VIP discount & the 18% off voucher "2017E318OFF".

Anyway, thanks for pointing out it's being made by different devs. I didn't even notice. Just read that Chloe was being voiced by someone else, didn't realize it was a new dev team. Hopefully they will do a decent job, if not better (fingers crossed). ;)

Huh, I had no idea different folks are working on this one. I guess DONTNOD is too busy with Vampyr so they passed on the development to someone else.
EDIT
As for the different voice actress, I don't know what to say there. I only found out later that Ashly was voicing Chloe and I didn't find her work anything close to memorable, just ok. So I'm feeling pretty indifferent about it.

Yes. Ashley Burch is not allowed to voice any characters, including Chloe, by her voice actors association. They are on strike. She did co-write her, though

I'm wondering if the bonus episode is worth it. I don't care about the mixtape mode and the outfits, so is the bonus episode even worth the price difference? :/

There's no real price difference if you get it from GMG. €1 more than current price on Steam of base game. I have no idea if it will be worth it, but I really enjoyed Life is Strange - more so than any of Telltale's titles. I just hope the devs & writers have done a decent job. As for the bonus episode, I guess it would depend on the length as to whether or not it warrants the extra €8 or so. Having said that, people waste more money than that on cosmetic dlc in general for various other games...

Anyway, I bought it the other day. Now I'm impatiently waiting for it to be released. & also impatiently waiting for the TV series based on the first game that is supposedly being made. :(

U get the key instantly via gmg or u need to wait for the release date of the game?

Usually you have to wait for the release to get your key from GMG. They do this for almost all pre-release games.

Permalink

You have to wait for game release, though in case of Mass Effect Andromeda, people got their keys a few days early. I imagine the devs are probably still testing & doing last minute bug eradication at the minute.

Ehm, that looks incorrect to me. o.O Maybe it depends on your region?
I just don't want to buy the deluxe edition for a bonus episode with a length of 10 minutes. xD I want to ensure it's something nice. xD

Buy the Deluxe version from GMG and use the promo code mentioned above, the final price is like only $1.5 more than the basic version on Steam store.

The 18% off voucher, you mean? So, it's 10% + 18% off or only 18% off? If it's not much of a fuss, can you tell me the exact price of it in euros with the discount?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I paid €18.51 cents. I'm in Spain. VIP is 10% off which was €22 something - I forget exact price. Then you subtract 18% from that.

It's €16.99 for the base game at current price on Steam.

So, the 10% discount is only for the VIP members? In conclusion, I can only get it for 18% off then? I'm not VIP.

There's no such thing as a VIP member really, you get the VIP prices just by logging in.

It's 18% off stacked with the 10% off (not exactly 28% off, actually 26.2% off).
It's $18.51 in USD, so if the original price in euro (without the 10% discount) were 24.99€, then it would be 18.51€ after both discounts.

The so-called VIP doesn't require you to do anything except for logging in to your GMG account. No annual fee or whatever.

So, I'm already a VIP member? No need to do anything to become a VIP? I didn't know that. Thank you. And a final question: Does my paypal need to be linked to a bank account or anything, in order to be able to buy the game with my paypal money? My paypal account isn't linked to anything.

Yeah, log in to your GMG account and you will see the reduced price. No extra sign-ups, so you are already their so-called VIP once you are logged in.

Does my paypal need to be linked to a bank account or anything, in order to be able to buy the game with my paypal money?

Sorry don't take my words on this PayPal stuff, since my PayPal account is linked with my bank account so I can withdraw funds in my PayPal to my bank, and I have to link my bank to get verified status. I am not entirely sure if they will approve the transaction if your account isn't linked to anything, there is a possibility it can go through but this seems to be "unverified payment" or so and can be easily tagged for fraud so the transaction gets declined.

That said, if anyone has experience with PayPal not linked to any form of payment and can make purchases with PayPal balance, do correct me on this.

In the past, I bought 3 games from them for 1 euro because I voted in the Golden Joystick Awards (Spec Ops: The Line, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, and a Green Man Gaming Mystery Pack). I used my paypal money to buy this pack. But I'm not sure if it's the same thing, since that was only for a euro and it was something like a promotion.

Just a credit card, but if you have money in paypal then it will take it directly from that rather than charging your linked credit card or bank account.

if you have enough money in your account then I don't see why it wouldn't - I can't 100% guarantee it will as I've always had my account linked to one thing or another or both card & bank.

Paypal is kind of like a bank in itself. If you have enough money in your account to purchase whatever it is that you want to buy then it will just use the money in your paypal account. If you have a credit card or bank account linked & you purchase something that costs more than you have in your account then it will use the money in your account then cover the rest of the cost by paying for it via your card or bank.

Well, they changed directions completely. Developed a new software for developing story-based game and brought in an entirely new team of writers. They're practically a different dev team with the same name

The deluxe edition will be available after release. I mean, it would be pretty stupid of them to limit it to pre-order only since it costs MORE money, not less. Things that cost more money don't expire. I also kind of doubt it's gonna be worth the money, as it costs nearly as much as a regular episode and has pretty much been confirmed to not contribute anything to the story. Just playing as Max one more time is really not enough of a selling point for me, but we'll see.

As for expectations, I'm not expecting a masterpiece but the released gameplay footage looks pretty impressive. 3 episodes is just right for a prequel and it's good that they're not stretching it out. And honestly, since DONTNOD are working on a sequel anyway, I don't even care if Deck Nine fucks it up. Even if it sucks, we'll get a proper sequel

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Indeed. The deluxe upgrade should be available after release. You can see it listed in the DLC bit, but there's currently no price listed for it.

I just read an article / interview on some website by Deck Nine & they sound quite passionate about the project. Trailer looks promising, but that doesn't really mean much, when you consider how many movie trailers make you want to watch a movie only for it to turn out to be utter tripe, but let's hope that isn't the case. :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They do look extremely passionate, but passion alone doesn't get the job done. Making a good prequel is freakin' hard. You gotta manage to tell an interesting story without messing up the already established timeline, without adding any new information that it would be weird for the characters to not bring up, and create tension while the players know where the characters are gonna end up - so they're never in any real danger.

We can only hope they know what they're doing. They did claim that they showed DONTNOD the first episode and they liked it, which is good. I do have hopes for this, but I'm also preparing myself for a letdown

Well, it's set during a period of time that wasn't really shown much during Life is Strange, but I know what you mean. We know neither of them are in any real danger & I doubt many - if anyone - will die in this game. I think it's more an exploration of a friendship. A cementing, if you will, that allows you to forge what might have been a life-long bond between Chloe & Rachel. That & explore stereo-typed high school life.

One of things I really enjoyed about Life is Strange is that you felt like you had a lot more freedom in both choice & exploration & that decisions actually mattered. The Kate scene took me multiple attempts & I was lucky in some of the choices & optional things I'd done earlier in the game. Telltale on the other hand, really disappointed me after I found out that the choices you make don't really have much impact & that they force certain things on you regardless of the choices you make, which is a shame as the first time I played The Walking Dead had me feeling on edge - this is before I knew what Telltale were actually all about. I still like them for the stories they tell though.

I don't think there will be a rewind power. I think it will just go into the story of Chloe and Rachel. It's probably going to be pretty short, but it's only a prequel so it's understandable. The sequel is still in the making. I wonder how many choices it's going to feature since we already know what happens to Rachel and Chloe if you played the main game.

I had the same question as you did about the deluxe edition so thanks for making this topic :)

No, doesn't look like a rewind power will be present, but just watched the outside xbox video of them showing clips & talking about whay they saw at E3. There was a tiny clip in the video where it looked like Chloe was thinking what might happen if she did or didn't do something. At least that's what it looks like...
