I knew it wouldn't take long before someone jumped in to start the hatewagon without even reading the question.

The only similar thing I have ever played is Urban Assault, but it's gonna be 15 years old this July which might be a dealbreaker for ya.

got cod mw3 and diablo 3 for 10 usd each during a toys r us sale. But did install it yet.

I personally found the strike force missions terrible. Nuclear Dawn to a certain extent allows for a "light" mix of RTS and FPS gameplay. Only one player has access to the RTS elements though, very limited and only multiplayer.

I believe some of the old Battlefields had this. Would need confirmation on this though. There was a free MMO I placed which was like this but I can't remember the name. The graphics were LoLish and it was the same sort of characters.
If anyone knows the name it'd be appreciated but I don't want to do a big rant about the game here. :D
