Yes, as long as you still have an internet connection, you are safe.
Not all achievements register if you are "really" offline, but in your scenario, you are only "invisible" to your friends ;)

I played The Binding of Isaac offline (I mean, where you see friends, steam was connected to internet), and it had me achivements only when I restart the game, after being online again, but never tried with other games...
And apparently, steam counted my playtime.

If I set friends -----> offline do I still earn achivements or is it like the same as going offline in steam?
P.S And if I download a game in steam can I install it If im in offline mode? I am downloading a bunch of em but dont have time to install them
